Default Still On Clearance At CC

Went to the local CC and saw this price. I was laughing as I took the picture and calmly walked away.

$100? Anyone? No?
$85? Anyone? Still No?

didnt you read. CC "accidentally" printed all of those new price tags with Cleareance on them and new prices. Someones finger slipped at the factory and the store managers "accidentally" ran with it.....you didnt see this was just an "accident"

That's an A2 though. It should be on clearance, as it's an old model.

Only $40 and you can protect that investment for 5 years...... I wonder if all studios jumped to Blu tomorrow, what would happen 5 years from now if you made a service claim on the A2 ??? ha!

I don't think I have owned a single player for more than two years....I look at it like this 50 bones A good upscaler and second or third room dvd player not to mention you will probably be able to buy the HDDVDs for about $4.99 in a year or so

I agree. If it does drop that low and they still offer 5 free discs then I might have to make it my 5 disc player

Pretty widespread "accident".

I know damage control when I see it but I figured I'd just let the ants feel good about it for the time being.

They'll see soon enough!

lol... dropped again? they can't even sell it at 100$... guess the fire sale no longer works (just like walmart's one back in 2007)...
I used to take a picture of XBOX360 with death rings (3 red rings) on a big shop in london

Some people are really stupid on here. ITs the A2 not the A3. The A2 is the older model and should be cleared out.

CC already said the A3 and A30 was a mistake.

My god people.

It was never $100.00 that was the A3 which was a mistake.

So it Never dropped to begin with.

Sorry, but to all those who keep nagging that it never went down in price, You're not going to tell me that the price that it came out at was $85. Also, for your information, Wal-Mart STILL sells it for $249. So yes, its a clearance item and who cares which one it is? Do you see one of ours at clearance? NO

My walmart has them for $149.00.

When CC put these on clearence it was and still is $85.00 nothing has changed.

Everyone is thinking the A3 which was $100 on clearence but day later was taken off due to mistakes. So the A3 did not drop from $100 to $85.

yes I have seen BR players(older ones) on clearence (not that low) and you probably will see more soon to move out old product and move in new. Its really not that hard to understand.

I think all the manufacturers of BD players need to bring the price down if BD really wants to win the war something like $300 or less.
My friend just baugth a hdtv and I told him about BD and all he says its to expansive so maybe he end buying a $123 hdplayer

Most people that buy cheap player either rent or copy their movies. And both those aren't selling HDM anytime soon. Renting does nothing, but it make the format visible... I mean movies still 29.99$ at Best Buy. Media price need to get down before Hardware.

I mean i paid my BD30 499$.... witch is the price i paid my Panasonic A320 in 2000, 3 years after DVD release..

I knew that was an A2. And if you look it's not $100.04 or even $99.

However, the "mistakes" on a3s and a30s were spread out all across the country. It was anecdotal, but widespread anecdotal and I actually had a cc rep give me a speech about it being due to the death of hd dvd. Another rep at another store said they had one a3 left and after that no more will be ordered.

Many had the same results, so if it was an "accident" it was a big one.

We are so used to "announcements". But this retailer business is a dif game. Perhaps when someone from TS got wind of this over the internet, some phone calls were made and a statement was issued. It was probably creating too much bad pr for TS. Imagine that getting to CNN....CC drops HD DVD!
Paramount would be fuming becase there are a couple of big releases lined up.

If you see hd dvd players in circuit city stores 90 days from now, call me stupid then .

Trust me, some retailers will want to phase out the product very stealthy, and some choose to disguise it as a big promotion. Any way you slice it, with no G4 players. It's firesale baby. Everything must go. Watch and see.

I suspect the "mistake" was Circuit City wasn't supposed to put the current-generation HD DVD player on clearance or to announce that they're dropping the format.

We'll see if they restock the players or not.
