Default See no Evil, hear no Evil (1989) - Arthur Hiller - Review

See No Evil, Hear No Evil Blu-ray

See No Evil, Hear No Evil Blu-ray Review

Received my copy today.

For me this is the best Wilder/ Pryor film by far offering a new take on comedy by combining two handicapped people who get in some serious trouble. This concept works perfectly as the humor doesn't result from being handicapped but the way those guys deal with all the sh*t and somehow manage to succeed. Pryor doesn't hold back with his swearing and gives a hilarious impersonation of a Swedish doc on a medical convention. As with THE IN-LAWS Hiller has pulled off a very face-paced buddy-movie having a duo with great chemistry.

The BD looks amazing! I don't think the picture can look any better: fine grain is apparent, colors look natural and well saturated, there's much detail... I don't have any complaints whatsoever. It only offers a stereo mix but sounds quite well. Bummer that there aren't any extras but still this BD is more than I could have hoped for so if you like the movie this is a must-own in my opinion!

Great film always loved Wilder and Pryor together!

I've always wondered a few things though, what that huge lump on Kevin Spacey's cheek was (I've always though it was bite or reaction to something) and why the widescreen version didn't show the same amount of Joan Severance as the fullscreen version (utter madness)?

The fullscreen version showed more than the director/cinematographer intended. But in the case of See No Evil, Hear No Evil--that extra information turned out to be a bonus.

Arthur Hiller wanted to make Silver Streak happen again, but at the time, we were treating it more like good therapy--
Gene Wilder was just getting back into films after a long string of Gilda Radner flops, Gilda's death, and his own bout with cancer, while Richard Pryor was just getting his funny and nasty self together again after that long string of poor-shlub post-rehab Toy/Superman III roles.

Too bad "Another You" turned out to be a mess, but at least here they showed what they were still capable of.

Whoa... the FS version should really have been on the BD as an extra! Joan looked very hot in HD
Thanks for the info chip!

What is cut out for widescreen? The part where she is reaching for the towel or the part where she drops her robe? Are her boobs completely cut out in these scenes? Man she sure had a nice rack in this movie.

It is the later of the two scenes.

I don't see why it would be a problem to link to, since the scene is basically PG/PG-13 rated in 1.85:1, but to be on the safe side, do a search for "see no evil hear no evil shower scene #2" on youtube to see the 1.85:1 framing of that scene.

Nothing got cut, in 1.85:1 the frame is just not showing Joans whole body (like it was always intended), that's it.

Not your typical behind the scenes featurette. This is more of an extended trailer, with a voiceover and a couple of short interviews with the stars thrown in for good measure.
