I posted a link from amazon, but I just looked on newegg. This is a deal I know that shouldn't be passed up.

they are $299 each, but only for a 2 days

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc..._-Homepage2011

I have one of these at my house and it belongs to a friend. I honestly hooked it up to be blown away by one of my PB12's, and I gotta tell ya, it was doing it's job well. I believe one of these will out due a PC-12, and you can get two of them for less then the SVS.

I hate to burst the bubble, but I respectfully disagree, the Klipsch has some raw power to be sure but it won't go nearly as low and nearly as clean as a PC-12... I've had both and comprared both before I dumped the Klipsch as fast as I could

to the OP. for $500-$600 I'd say go for an Elemental Designs A3-300... that beast will WHOMP over most of the subs in your price range. Thing is absolutely earthshattering. Great great sub. Also if you have the know how and can do a little wood working you could make a THT of F-20 for about $350 that would give you enough output to tear drywall sheets off your walls.

But at that price he could buy two of the Klipsch and it would completely destroy one sub in the same price range. I think people get too stuck on recommending their own gear to other people. Different people have different needs, priorities, and budgets.
My sub will blow em all away but you don't see me recommending it.

I guess it all comes down to priorities. He'll get more output but he wen't get near the clean extension the SVS subs will have. I apologize if it sounds like I'm touting my own gear. I don't actually have any of the subs I recommended anymore (except for the 2 THT's) I've been through about 10 subs though and have had extensive experience with all of them. those Klipschs will give him some powerful output for that price range but he'll run into the issues of getting some distortion in low frequency movies if he pushes them hard. I just think there's better bang for buck subs out there (even 2 of the BIC subs out there will be cheaper and on par for those Klipschs). If he just wants powerful output and doesn't mind a higher frequency than a single THT or Cinema F-20 will be about the same price as one sub and outperform both together. Nothing but saying there is better for the price out there, not saying those 2 Klipschs are a horrible deal or anything.

Man you guys have so many good opinions and ideas. Now I don't know if I should buy one or two. Well I won't be pulling the trigger just yet anyways. I need to sell my def tech set up first. Then I need to buy the on the wall paradigm cinema speakers.

Bic, klipsh, SVS, hsu, ED, man oh man what a decision.

I am thinking one good sub should do. If I get 2 than I heard they are kinda a pain to get in sync together

not at all, only problem you would have is two different TYPES of subs (sealed and a ported together etc). then it just takes a bit of work with REW... HOWEVER two subs of identical make together is simple as putting one on top of the other (or on opposite sides of the room) and setting them with a multimeter for the same level. done in under 10 minutes. I've used multiple subs for years and never ever had a problem with them being out of synch

I shouldn't say recent, but it was not long ago.

sigh, ED had a few amp issues a couple years back, no reason to go in and bash on a company over an isolated incident or so SVS is great but that snipe was uncalled for.

and to the OP an SVS PB-12 is an excellent choice. Great sub. Only bad thing bad about them is that they jumped their prices DRASTICALLY since the new owners took over. went from $600 shipped in the last few years to right now being almost $800 shipped.

above you posted about getting the PB-12...

http://www.svsound.com/subwoofers/ported-box/pb12-nsd

I checked around and the only $650 sub is the SB-12 (the lower powered sealed version)

When it comes to subwoofers, two are always better than one.
You'll need two subs to smooth out the bass response in your HT.
