i love all of his films, lady in the water was probably his weakest, imo, but i still found it entertaining, this should be pretty good.

Looks like Fox wasn't ready to let the official site up yet.

www.thehappeningmovie.com now just reverts back to Foxmovies.com

Good that You Tube link is still up, everyone else that had it up has been removed at the copyright holder's request.

Looks great! Knowing Shyamalan's movies, this will have some interesting twist. I'm a big fan of his all his movies. (yes, even lady in the water)

I can't tell what's happening in the trailer. Are people just up and terminating themselves or what?

That's what appeared to be happening. Although i'm wondering how he'll tie everything together if it is about people killing themselves in mass numbers. If he goes back to his Sixth Sense roots it should be a good movie with a great twist

Um... this looks a lot like a Doctor Who episode from a couple of years ago, not to mention the obvious similarities to The Signal.

I love M. Night Shamalamadingdong's movies, but this one seems a little weak on originality.

Hopefully I'll see it an be pleasantly surprised.

Yes, people are committing suicide all over due to some environmental-related-threat.

Most current movies have similarities to past stories - not much these days is truly original.

However it's different takes on themes that makes Shyamalan's efforts worth seeing. Unbreakable was just another superhero movie, but is was the angle he took on it, just showing the discovery, that made it one of my favourite movies ever.

The Village and Signs were much more than monster and alien movies; The Village was a remarkable love story and Signs was a family drama. I think some people just don't really get the angles Shyamalan takes and expect something more than they really are...but perhaps that's also the fault of the way the movies are advertised.

I was emotionally blown away by The Village and Signs. It wasn't until someone pointed out the inconsistencies (like you can build a spaceship, yet not get out of a locked broom closet; go to a planet made of 80% water when it will kill you, etc.) that I noted them, as I guess there were other issues going on in the movie that had my attention.

I've always found the main "advertised" plot to Night's movies takes second place to the human factor going on in each and every one of them.

Maddox's stitch-up of Signs is pretty funny too, but not quite as funny as his stitch-up of I, Robot.

I saw the movie "I, Robot" recently, a film based loosely on a book written by science fiction author Isaac Asimov. In case you're not familiar with Asimov's writing, here's a list of things the movie had in common with the book:
  • The title.

I don't know why, but after the movie I came out of the theater wanting to buy a pair of Converse shoes (vintage 2004), have them delivered to my local FedEx station, drive my MV Augusta SPR motorcycle to pick them up, stop by the shop to have my new JVC CD player installed in my Audi, pick up a couple of Dos Equis on my way home, wash it down with an Ovaltine and then invest what money I have left into a mutual fund with Prudential Life Insurance.

I'm not exaggerating: this movie plugged 5 companies within a 10 minute block of time. That's roughly one advertisement every two minutes. Most *****s don't see that kind of action. What makes a good movie good and a movie like this cunny waft is that in a good movie, every shot counts; every word uttered has a purpose. You won't find the characters saying things like "nice shoes" to which Smith replies "vintage 2004." Thanks for the update *******s, we couldn't have figured out that the products you're cramming down our throats actually exist in real life.

Speaking of sloppy story, they could have cut this movie down to 3 minutes and still said everything they said in its current form. Here's how I would have changed this film: start out with a shot of Will Smith in a grocery store buying a 6 pack of Dos Equis beer, except instead of paying, the cashier is a Dos Equis marketing rep who hands Smith a thick wad of bills. Next shot: Smith finishes the last of the beer, walks over to Isaac Asimov's grave and lets loose:

You hit the nail on the head there, I was going to say this exactly the same way, although I don't think people expect something "more," just something different.

The advertising is always the problem w/ his movies, they're never sold correctly. They are advertised based on their superficial plot (aliens, monsters), but those things are normally just vehicles for the real plot (bringing the family together, Bryce Dallas Howard's character going into the "monsters'" realm to save the man she loves).

Also, dobyblue, I love his send-up of I, Robot. Will Smith is just a brand any more, brought in to sell stuff, IMO.

I think the big message in Lady in the Water was the critic he killed off..critics don't like it when they can't see how a movie is gonig to end..and that's how his movies are..the twist ending.

M. Night Sama-lama-ding dong is very hit and miss with me. I LOVED Signs and the Sixth Sense. I thoughtThe Village was ok. I despised Lady in Water.

This movie looks very promising!
