Default Help about HD credit/financing Please.

okay so i was planning on buying my hdtv from best buy and i thought they would give me a big credit limit but it was under a thousand dollers.
now i was on sony's website and i was checking out there credit card oppurtunities and then i saw the page for financing here is the link

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...Sony_financing

and i dont really understand the whole financing thing.
so do they give me a credit card with a limit. or do i get to spend as much as i want and i just have to pay the monthly bill.
i was thinking about getting the 50 inch or 56 inch 1080p rear projection tv.
thanks for the help

Default Cash is always best but...

Sony allows you to take advantage of items now without the high interest accumulations. They have a "same as cash" option that is not a gimmick, but there is a trick to it. Whatever option you choose, 90, 12 or 18 months, if you cannot pay off the balance before this time is up, they will hit you with the accrued interest from the beginning of your purchase. This would not be a good thing, especially if you opted for the 18 month, as the interest rates are high. So, they will give you a credit limit. Take that and choose an option that makes since financially for you and PLEASE pay the balance within the time frame given! You'll thank yourself in the end.

i could easily pay it off before 18 months i would end up paying it off by may this year.
the thing is i just want my tv really bad and i dont want to have to wait until around mid april or early may to get it.
so if i decided to do this financing thing i would be able to order the tv this week and just have to keep paying it off???
or do they do a credit check and give me a certain amount of money i can use??

Default Yes...

Yes, they will perform a credit check and assign a limit accordingly. The initial limit may be a standard, but they will probably understand if you are seeking a particular purchase that may not be within this limit. Just ask.

definately go with Sony credit. even if you don't get approved for the full amount they will almost always increase your limit to accomodate a big tv purchase. also don't make ANY paymetns until the month before the promotion ends. Instead put monthly playments in to a high yeilding interest savings account like emmigrant direct so that you have enough to cover the full purcdhase the month prior to promotion end. Then pay it off and enjoy all the interest you made during the 18 months. Why pay it off early when its an interest free loan. Make interest yourself in the mean time.

THIS TAKES DISCIPLINE!

OH and I would HIGHLY consider the 60" XBR2 LCOS Rear Project LCD. AMAZING Tv. Comes with an extra bulb with justifies the higher cost. 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

Also make SURE YOU DICKER for free white glove shipping. Sonystyle will ALWAYS give you free white glove shipping if you dicker for it. $130 value.

EDIT: WOW the price has skyrocketed up on the 60" http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...SKU=KDSR60XBR2 I bought this from Sonystyle in december for $3100. Maybe you can haggle it down.

well they dont even have any rear projection 1080p's in stock of the 50 inch or 56 inch. so i guess i will wait a few weeks to see if it does.
also do you have to pay for a warranty or do they give you one by buying from sony directly. because those 2 tv's are cheaper at best buy and circuity city and a lot of other places.

Best buy warrantys are garbage and cost a fortune on HDTVs. You can buy a warranty direct from Sony. Even if you buy the TV from best buy call sonystyle and buy an extended warranty for it at a fraction of the cost.

I would reccomend this approach. The Sony warranty yields better results and it is cheaper.

thanks for the information. but i just got a credit card with a 25 hundred doller limit so now i can get my tv in a few weeks.
give me some feedback out of these 3

the vizio 47 inch 1080p--- i kno its not the best out on the market but i dont think i can tell the difference that much between all of them when it comes to PQ.
the Samsung HL-S5087W--- i saw it in BB thought it had a good picture but i dont know if it was HD or not it was hard to tell.
and the sony wich i mentioned in earlier posts--- ive never actually seen this tv in any store so i cant comment on the PQ

i also had 1 more question when it comes to flat pannel vs rear projection.
ive never had enought time to really check out lcd's but i have a 3 yr old mitsubishi HDTV rear projection and it looks like the people are in the tv.. i cant really explain it but if you know what i am talking about does it look that way with the lcd's too??

thanks for the help much appreciated

I bought the HLS5087 and I'm loving it so far. I bought it as a stop gap until the new LCDs came out this summer, but I'm liking it alot more than I thought I was going to. It has a great picture and its 1080p to boot. I picked this one up for dirt cheap and would do it again if I could.

Yes JVC has good rear projectors that some times get better reviews then Sony. I would also consider the JVC over Sony. JVC has slighty better picture quality then Sony at a cheaper price.

If you want a Sony you can get a 60 inch KDS60A2000 for under $2,000 delivered. I prefer some JVC models over Sony, but Sony still makes some nice sets. Many stores are clearing out of the 2006 model SXRD’s and you can get a good price on them right now. The only difference between the 2006 models which end with 2000 and the 2007 models that end with 2020 is the color is black on the 2007 models instead of silver with the 2006 models . That is the only difference. Mail order companies and local stores like Best Buy have some really good prices on the 2006 SXRD's.
Here is a link with places that have the SXRD below $2,000 for final delivery priced

Here is a link to Sony’s website where you can see all the different models.

If you want to max out your credit card you can get the Sony KDRS60XBR2 60 inch for under $2500. This set gives you a free on screen interactive TV guide and a Cable card slot to subscribe to Digital cable programming without renting the cable companies cable box. The only draw back is it does not support PPV or Video on demand. If you plan on using an external cable box or satellite receiver then save your self some money and go with the 60A2000 SXRD for $500 cheaper.
