Default Reason for no delay on WB HD DVD - retail liquidation?

crazy thought tell me if you think it could be true. usually fines are pretty stiff for releasing movies before the release date, is it possible that some stores contacted WB and asked permission to release the HD DVDS before the delay, because HD DVDS sell much better when they are day-and-date with the dvd and that these stores are going blu-ray exclusive and they are trying to liquidate HD DVD stock. Being full blu now, WB happily agrees.

Well, Channel > Manufactor.

Unless it is really hot product and manufactors are really mean to enforce release date (like Harry Potter new series), manufactors don't care channels for early releases. If manufactors are mean to strict release date, they at least wont ship to channel so early.

I see, but wouldnt it be cheaper and easier to ship all copies at once. i could tottaly see some worker not shipping titles on time because he thought they were just excess stock cause 'all' the titles shipped 3 weeks earlie. plus , instead of 1 large shipment they gotta do 2 smaller ones which is probably more expensive.

the only issue with your hypothesis is that it does not make sense. you are obviously talking about new movies not yet out, why would a company risk more buy buying more and hoping being a bit earlier means they can sell them when they can just order less and risk less.
