Or course that's a very subjective statement.
What about the 160GB iPod?

The only thing I like about it is the size of its hard drive. I never liked iPods, and the Classic is no different.

I'll go for an iPhone when:
  1. It's got a user replaceable battery.
  2. It's seriously capable of replacing a "classic" iPod in terms of storage.
  3. It's capable of modem tethering.
  4. It's offered by T-Mobile.

Chances are, I'll be sticking with my 80GB iPod classic, and BlackBerry for awhile.

Its a bummer you can't buy the phone offline here in the UK, you HAVE to get an 18 month contract with it.

Well, unless you jailbreak it you have to get a 2 year contract here. I do have a $100 apple credit from my iPhone that I could use to get the 16gb version. hmm, decisions, decisions.

It is also nice to be able to search the web wherever I want as many sites are blocked at work.

I'd consider it if I didn't have to sign another two year contract to get the new 16gb phone. I'll wait for a more worthwhile upgrade. Like 3g and real GPS.
Agreed. As much as I could REALLY use that extra space because I've only got the 8GB with only 320MB of available room.... I'm not signing up for another 2yr contract and I'd rather wait for 3G and GPS. I actually went out and bought a real GPS yesterday, just wish it was on my iPhone.

But you don't realize that its much more than just a nifty phone. You're actually buying a micro computer. Its worth every penny. Compare it to stuff like Verizon's horrible wannabe iPhone. The UI is HORRIBLE.

Don't know where you live, but my AT&T service is FAR better in more places than T-Mobile. I worked for T-Mobile for a year and a half and they always boast about their coverage, but there were tons of places where, according to their personal coverage check, I should have had adequate coverage but didn't. Plus, their technology is about two years behind everybody else's.

Just curious, but why? I've never really messed with many other mp3 players, but I did play with the Zune a little . . . didn't love it, didn't hate it. The main reason I bought an iPod was because it's the only thing that's really supported by most of the car audio companies, including the auto manufacturers. Can't say I really have any reason to go with anything else though, my iPod's never given me trouble.
