Default Best HTIB available?

Ive been browsing through the forums for a while now and been reading a lot. Im just looking for a nice HTIB that will give me the true HD sound and quality. Ill be connecting just the ps3 and hd cable to it through HDMI. I just want to know what models are out there and why you think this model is good.

What kind of price range are you looking in? Are you looking for a receiver as well as speakers?

Although I do not own this I would imagine it would be a great option, although I do not know exactly what features you want or the price range you are considering. I would say check out the Onkyo HT-SR800 http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-SR800-Theater-Entertainment-System/dp/B000O8E8YW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12023196 03&sr=8-1

EDIT: Are there any particular audio options you are looking for, like the ability to decode specific audio.

Price range really doesnt matter. I know buying a receiver and speakers separate will be better but all i need right now is a HTIB. Specs wise, im not too sure. I just want the best quality sound i can get in a HTIB

Consider the one mentioned above, but you also may want to consider the Onkyo package like this one...

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-SP908...320030&sr=8-22

Seems like there is a lot more positive feedback on this one.

The HT-SP908 has HDMI 1.3a the 800 doesnt
the HT-SP908 has full 1080 the 800 uses 1080P (pass thru) Not fully utalizing the 1080P in other words

Looks like that's the case... though the 800's receiver doesn't full support HMDI 1.3a... so you won't get true 1080P output. It may be worth it just for that.

check here, looks like the 800 also is a solid choice... depends on your TV size.

Lots of positive reviews.

No. The 800 doesn't decode any of the Hi-Def formats like Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

It appears that the 900 comes with the Onkyo 605, which is a very solid receiver.

Be aware that the PS3 will not pass through Hi-Def audio through bitstream to this receiver anyways, so you will not be able to take advantage of that. Though it will will play PCM, so you can send PCM audio and internally decoded Dolby TrueHD to it.

I don't believe so... you are almost better buying a complete speaker setup, and a separate receiver, in which case I recommend the Onkyo 605 which comes with the 900 series. They have some nice complete speaker packages on Amazon... but it depends on your price range for what to go with. Myself, I would recommend the Klipsch Quintet II series with matching subwoofer, you can have both for about $500... so with receiver about $900.

Correct me if im wrong. So any of Onkyo 605, 705, 805 will do Full 1080 and will decode most audio? Ive read the specs and they look like they do.

The Onkyo 05's are by far the best combination of tech specs and performance for your buck. If I recall correctly they all offer 1080p via HDMI and handle most audio. It is more of a question of what player you have, there are many conversations on the forums about the PS3 bitstream issue. Just to clarify I have the 805 myself and am starting to look at speakers et.al.
