Default Need help changing speaker wire on HTIB

I was curious how you change the speaker wire for home theater in the box. My system is an older Sony Dream System. The speaker wires it comes with are attached to a spring clip that plugs into the back of the receiver. Once the speaker wire becomes detached from the spring clip it will not stay connected.

How would I change out all the speaker wire if each speaker is spring clip?

I'm guessing you mean these as the spring clips in question.

If this is so, you should just be able to remove a little bit of the insulation on the new speaker wire so you have bare wire. Twist the bare wire, open the spring clip by pushing down on the red or black plastic part and insert the bare wire in the hole. Release the spring clip.

Keep in mind that these usually cannot handle wire gauge larger than 12AWG.

Another thing to consider would be the connections into your HTiB receiver. Most of the time, these use proprietary connectors, so make sure you can insert your new wire into those.
If they have spring clips, then you have nothing to worry about

actually no. the speaker wires that plug into the receiver are permanently attached to these spring clips that plug directly into the receiver and stay connected without having to hold anything down to connect them. they are square and just plug right in. i have no idea how to reattach the speaker wire to these square clips that plug into the back of the receiver.

no you can't. Its one of the draw backs to the HTiB setups, some of them have a proprietary connection so that you can't change anything.

how about telling us what brand and model HTiB you have; that would be a great help to all of us instead of us guessing.

we want to help so please provide that information.

Default double dipper?

i thought this post looked familiar. are you still talking about the same HTiB as in the other thread you started or is this a different one since you didn't include the model like you did in the other one?
