Default Galactica: The Original Epic Series

I spent a long time searching for a thread on the Original Galactica series and couldn't find anything.

Has anyone heard anything about a possible release of the Original series on BD? Amazon currently have the Original DVD box set for $25.99 which I think it's a pretty good deal and I was thinking about pulling the trigger, but if there's a chance of BD release in the near future, I will hold off then.

That DVD box was wildly overpriced when it came out.
Cant imagine what a BD set would cost.

Dammit -- I just started to do a happy dance thinking this was an announcement.

No, there's been no news of the original BSG hitting BD. I'm sure it'll happen one day, but that's not going to be soon. Universal hasn't even bothered releasing Caprica on BD and that just aired.

I don't think they will be mining the back catalog of TV stuff for a while. But when they do, I'm sure BSG will be near the top.

Get the DVD set. The PQ/AQ is really good and there's a surprising number of great supplements.

I remember picking this up for $50 on DVD and thought it was a steal. I agree that the picture is significantly better than I was expecting and their are more than enough supplements.

What was that episode where they went through some dimension or cloud or planet and they all had on all-white uniforms, guns and maybe even vehicles. I know it was Starbuck.

disregard.....

They did that for Galactica 1980, everytime they traveled back in time they clothes turned white, including their guns. No explanation.

Wasn't the guy from The Avengers (Patrick McNee or something like that?) the voice of 'God' in that episode and then later the voice of the supreme Cylon?

I have this vivid picture in my head of Baltar stammering in horror/disbelief 'I know you...I know that voice..."

Speaking of vivid mental pictures, how many people are to this very day still a little pissed at Jimmy Carter, Menachem Begin and Anwar Sadat?

On a slight tangent, I've noticed the "Buck Rogers in the 25h Century" tv show has been recently re-released on single side dvds. (Seen it at WalMart and BestBuy recently).

My original dvd copy of "Buck Rogers in the 25h Century" had those dreaded double-sided flipper disks.

As a wild guess, I suspect the reason Universal is re-releasing the "Buck Rogers in the 25h Century" dvd set, is that they may possibly be sold out of its old stock. (I don't know if Universal is completely sold out of its old stock of the original Battlestar Galactica tv show dvd sets).

I may be way off base here, but I'm going to wait and see if Universal will re-release the original Battlestar Galactica tv show on single sided dvds this year or next year. (Or wishful thinking on my part, if they decide to release it on single sided blurays).
Yep it is the flipper disc, same as with my Buck Rogers set.

Now in both cases everything does play perfect (granted I haven't watch both sets now in 6 years at least). Back in those days I wasn't much inform and did not read reviews and such, would just buy. I have learn not to touch flipper disc since those days

Yeah the show is rather dated now and was far from being amazing even back in 1980, still it was a fun show and yes Erin Grey in that white suite got a lot of reaction out of 12 years old me

I did not have problem either, been a while since I did watch them. I suppose it's time to pull out the set and watch them again

If they ever "rebooted" Buck Rogers for modern times I could see a BD set.

Quote:
In the age of remakes and reboots, a Buck Rogers project would seem like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, after speaking with Erin Gray and Gil Gerard, I cannot offer fans any hope.

"Buck Rogers Begins" was set to be an origin story as laid out in the comics, explaining how Lucas ‘Buck’ Rogers was propelled from World War I, into a future Earth in the 25th Century. Gerard and Gray were set to play Buck's parents and Bobby Rice will be Buck.

"My daughter was set to be Buck's girlfriend", Erin Gray referencing her daughter Samantha portraying Madison Gale.

"The story begins in the early 1900s, pre-World War I and then continues to the modern time to remake the series", Gray continued.

Gray cited "lack of funding" and "production savvy" as reasons the project fell apart. Gil Gerard wasn't as kind:

"It's done. Done. It's the victim of incompetence."

Thanks guys for all the info. I just went ahead and placed the order with Amazon. Can't go wrong for $25.99 plus I am a prime member so I should get the set within 2 days at no additional charge

It should come in a big Lorne Greene head.

Talk about perfect bookends.
