Default Watched Crank and HOFD last week

Now I understand the difference between a good transfer and a bad one. HOFD had some great colors but overall it was horrible. I did like the movie itself though.

It's not just the transfer but the source. They can only do so much with a shitty source. If the SD version was crap, chances are the Blu version or for that matter, the HD, won't be a whole lot better. Ant Bully blew mw away as did Crank and Kingdom Of Heaven whereas Entrapment was very soft - but that's how Entrapment was filmed.

I still mantain that HOFD BD on a 1080p direct view looks no worse than a foreign print on an average theater. I saw The Incredibles projected even softer!

I really do agree to that. I watched HoFD on my system and I didn't find it that horrible. If my memory serves it does look like the theatrical presentation I saw a year and a half ago in an arthouse cinema. I actually was quite satisfied with the BD, it was the very first one I watched on my system and also the first one I purchased. I always felt that it was treated unfairly but I thought, as the overwhelming majority found it so appalling, that I am pleased too easily and simply incapable of assessing image quality.
