I believe I'm 9-10 with the Artist taking that one, almost at .500!

Billy Crystal is right. I'm not sure I could fake a smile if I got snubbed when they announced a winner. They do their best to pretend excitement for losing.

Too bad for Marty. But it's hard to be upset - he's gotten his name dropped about a million times tonight.

I can't help but think that 10 Best Picture nominations is an attempt to get people to get out and see more films.

Marty had the best film of the year and was derailed by the campaigning of the Weinsteins. If it wasn't for them really championing The Artist and using their fiendish tactics that they've used multiple times in the past, the more deserving directors and films would have won.

But I did enjoy The Artist to not completely disown it. It's definitely not in the same category as Slumdog, Crash, and Chicago where I scratched my head.

You say that like he was ever a small man.

Uhhh I'm a huge anime fan and animation fan in general but I would have a hard time calling any animated work the best film of all-time, actually I would probably have a hard time putting an animated film in my top 20.

First, there are only 9 this year. And second, it is 5-10 each year. Next year we could see 7. The year after 5 then back to 10. It changes. It is a VERY good rule change. 5 was WAY too little. 5-10 is PERFECT.

Yeah, I liked the Artist too. I tend to be antagonistic towards frontrunners when they're not my favs, so I went to see it again today to remind myself that I did really enjoy it. So I'm fine with it winning the top prizes. But I'm overjoyed that Hugo made an impressive showing tonight and that we got to hear people thank Martin Scorsese over and over.

I'm more sick of seeing Whitney than Steve Jobs. She didn't belong up there, technically.
