I can't believe that a company is releasing colorized titles in 2012. I thought that kind of nonsense had gone out with Ted Turner in the 1980's. I know that both versions are included, but still.

Default Lugosi was addicted to morphine, not heroin

Plan 9 From Outer Space review incorrectly says Bela Lugosi was addicted to heroin. While introducing a Lugosi film on TCM, Robert Osborne made this error on Turner Classic Movies a couple of years ago. Lugosi's medical addiction was not heroin, but morphine.

We should think about that. And Ed Wood, knowing EXACTLY what he wanted as framing ?!!? Like Zoet MB, I think not..

i prefer to have everything on screen including the boom mic and what we should not see..it is part of the appeal.. It is not Citizen Kane we're talking about. NO...it's a lot better.. it's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE !!
Sorry, 90% of films framed for 1.85 are shot open matte and in not one case should they ever be shown that way. That's not the way it works, it's not the way the movie was framed and if you don't mind it for this title, then perhaps we should all go back to the dark ages of home video and have open matte transfers of all films framed for 1.85. Wouldn't that be a lovely kettle of fish.

You are right, whitesheik. But I didn't say 1:33 is the best way to watch the film, just that I prefer to see everything. I like to watch a film the way it was intended to be shown but, for PLAN 9, never on VHS - DVD -Blu-ray, the film was shown 1:85:1.

And I did a little research and discovered that many disagree about the Plan 9 OAR. I won't start on this since I don't know the OAR and there is no proofs one way or the other.. even if there is a lot of people that pretend to know the original ratio..

I wonder what source they used for this one? Apparently the UK DVD is from the original negative, but I've never seen it to compare.

I've got the Image DVD, which I consider to be very, very decent for this film.

The DVDTalk review of the Legend DVD claims that the source they used is "terrific" -- even better than the Image DVD:

So, I expect the BD will be worth picking up.

As much as I love this one, I might actually just wait it out. I really get in the mood to watch these once we get closer to fall.

I am still wondering if I will get this or not? I have the DVD. This movie fall's into the "its so bad it become's funny to watch" type of thing. The Pre-order is $13 on Amazon right now, I will still think about it for a while. I got the DVD for $4 some years ago and as fun as it this to watch this disaster you can't really pay too much for it

Where do you see it for $13?

All I can see is that it is currently $17.99 on Amazon.ca and $15.49 on Amazon.com.

My mistake, when I look for it on Amazon.ca I ended up looking at the DVD and not Blu-ray, it is $17

The proof is in the standards used in the film industry for theatrical exhibition and in the wide open spaces in the 4:3 transferred image

It's been that for a while actually... or close anyway. It was $9.04 when I ordered it, and 99-cent shipping if you don't spend at least $15... but I ordered mine with something else.

Strangely, my order has already shipped too... so I might have this by Saturday even though the release date is next Tuesday!
