Universal Pictures Norway is under the umbrella of Universal/NBC and is easily accessible from Universal's website:

Thanks to soremekun for discovering this Norweigan release.

Maybe they are testing the waters.

Yeah I saw this thread as well, but the information provided comes from a pretty unreliable source, also there has been no official announcement.

Maybe I am being too pessimistic though.

Not nearly as big a deal as if they did so in the US market.

This is the first step in the right direction. It's now only a matter of time before Universal is releasing in the U.S. Maybe they are seeing the writing on the wall, and are not trying to make to same mistake in Europe as they did in the U.S.

This announcement is making me further believe that Universal has some type of contractual agreement with releasing on MS-DVD.

I read somewhere they did have an exclusive contract, but it ended on 12/31/06.

Not too excited just yet. If this had been an actual Universal release, rather than one of Sony's films I would have read more into it. Still..a glimmer for those who want it.

It's the beginning of some kind of movement.

Isn't Open Season a Sony title? I know that Distribution is handled differently overseas, but Open Season was distributed in North America by Sony. So what gives?

There goes that discussion. I wonder where this website got this information from.

Yeah, I'm going to end this now, before it gets messy.
