Default The Office (US Version)

Any chances of this ever being released on Blu-Ray?

Man I hope so. This is my favorite show. Hopefully the writers can get back on the job.

As much as I would LOVE to the see The Office on Blu-Ray, remember that the show is an NBC property and NBC is under the Universal umbrella.

It is kind of strange that NBC released Heroes on HD-DVD, but has not rolled out other popular shows (i.e. The Office, Law & Order, My Name is Earl, etc.) on HD-DVD?

I'd love to see this when Universal understands Blu-ray is the future.

Those of you who are saying that "The Office" is Universal needs to understand that that won't be an issue much longer...

Considering the popularity of "The Office", I wouldn't be surprised to see a Blu-ray set of "The Office" next year or the next...

Was it shot in HD, if not, whats the point of a Blu-ray version, other than putting all the epsiodes on a couple of Blu-rays?

PS, much, much better than the UK version. I watched the whole of series two a few weeks back when shown on Paramount, I missed it first time around on BBC/ITV.

Screw the US version.. The UK version is BBC (Blu-Ray possible) and infinitely better.

The office UK version was so bland and not that funny. That is why it died.

The Office US Version has basically a cult following. I think the actors and actresses are who really make that show click.

I mean Dwight K Schrute? C'mon this character is balls out funny!

That would be called subtlety, something the American version knows not.. And the show did not die, it simply ended. The way Extras simply ended. Because it's the way Gervais wanted it to be.

Really? The all just started out imitating the UK actors. It's basically a "smart" friends. The UK version was more "bland" as you call it because it was more real, and personally I find that far funnier.

But shame on me for turning this into a UK Office vs. US Office thread. My bad.

First off, it didn't die. They ended it early. Second, it's one of the best received shows ever, which is why America decided to remake it.

Additionally, take a look at the first episode of the US version. Aside from some vernacular differences, the episode was IDENTICAL...

I love both versions (I work in a cube farm, and for that reason, love the film "Office Space as well), but the UK version will always stand a little taller to me, since it paved the way for the US version.

LOL at your lack of insight.

The UK version was far more edgy and disturbing. It had the humor but much more pain as well, but that was the point. The US version, which I also like very much, is far less a work of art than the BBC version... it's an American sitcom that is slightly better than the average fare.

Now to your 2nd horrible miscategorization...

The UK version has a cult following while the US series has a mainstream following. For someone who likes NIN you should know better.

It didn't die, Ricky wanted to end it at that point, the same thing he did for Extras...

Both are good shows, obviously they are tuned for their countries general public. I am slightly partial to the US one, but that is becuase I went to college in Scranton, PA, so it is even funnier to me. Both versions have their merits and enjoy both.

They until it's no longer funny.

The US version has progressed from a great base and improved the formula, I'm not sure Gervais was capable of taking the series onto the next level, he's an overhyped one trick pony, IMO. He fluked on a cult series and hasn't progressed.

The US version is the best comedy show I've seen for many years.
