How Do Update a PS3???

I dont have my PS3 hooked up to an online connection. How would I go about Updating my PS3 with the latest Firmware? Does PS3 have WI-Fi? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated /

The PS3 have a wi fi connection capability. if you have a Wi Fi then on your PS3 menu scroll to the left toward setting and it is the first choice you have under system update. Choose system update and it will walk you through to update. If you don't have an update go www.playstation3.com go to firmware update and download it to either a blank disk or a memory stick. after you are done HOOK the memory stick to the PS3 and access the stick and you should be able to install. if you use a CD, which by the way i am not certain if you can update the PS3 using this method. just check the site i referred you to and it has direction on how to update your system. Go to this link and read it very carefully before applying the update.

Once downloaded and save it on your computer ,put your firmware into a memory disc or flash disc or a CD.

Easy.. connect online
go to the first TAB of the XBM (where they are setting option), use the First top Link

and voila it's done.

I updated the firmware of my 80GB PS3 via a SD flash memory card (didn't have my PS3 connected to the Internet yet). Easy process.

Create a "PS3" folder. Then create an "UPDATE" folder inside of the "PS3" folder. Put the firmware file in that update folder. Put the card in the PS3 and select the System Update feature and choose Memory Card. Follow the on screen instructions and leave the player alone while it updates.

If you put in one of the newest games in, it will automatically ask you to update it. Simply agree to it.

I dont have wi fi in the house, everything here is hardwired so I can either connect an ethernet cable to update or connect to the neighbors wifi ...lol

Then under the second column on the main menu(I think its settings) there should be a system update icon, click on that
