The only thing I don't like is when they use that super gooey glue on the security stickers and it leaves residue on the box. Have to pull the Gue Gone and rub it off. Thank God for that stuff.

In time the cases will change. DVD cases were cardboard when they first came out. After Blu ray is mainstream Im sure we will see more better looking unique cases coming out.

btw do we spend more time looking at the cases or watching the films in HD? A case wont be the deciding factor for me to get a move that’s for sure.

I like the cases just the way they are, and the fact the most of them are uniform and equal in size, makes it easy to organize. They look cool too!

But I second the other comments about gooey crap that gets stuck on the packaging, annoying, Goof Off works great, but I shouldn't have to do that all the time. Seems like Lionsgate are the worst offenders.

That's my thing, too. I really like the uniformity. All those subtle differences between DVD cases. (One's slightly wider than another even though they are both single discs, just a bit taller or shorter, some having those locking flaps, etc) makes things look a little disorganized and ugly, IMHO.

Yep, me too. Although I love Sony's Blu-ray edition of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," I prefer what Warner did with their five-disc collector's edition of "Blade Runner." The elite keep cases can accommodate booklets and such and they are much more resilient against wear and consume a minimal amount of space. Shelf space evaporates when your collection begins to grow beyond the double digits.

Same here the last thing I want is cases that are diffrent than the ones that are out. Kepp them the way they are. I almost did not get Lost as it was in a cardboard case, then I founf out it was in a standared Blu case inside so I went ahead and got it. There were many DVDs that I never got because of the dumb snapper cases or cardboard fold out sleeves, so I was glad when Blu went with unifority.

If they do this I will pass on even movies I am looking forward to, I want then all the SAME!

I think we can all agree that the cover artwork can be shady on blu-rays sometimes, with the whole "Beyond HD" swoosh clogging up the box(yeah i mean YOU Buena Vista!) I hope they eventually just have regular artwork. This, however, will not stop me from buying blu-ray. I also like the case itself, smaller and the blu-ray attracts attention to my collection or an in-store display. Very cool, I think.

I think the bluray cases look much nicer than DVD cases. When I opened my PS3 and saw that slick bluray case with Spiderman i was alreay impressed.

I agree.
I think that the cases are better looking then any of the standard DVD cases that i have owned. I do not think the cases are sub-par but exceeds the old format.

HD-DVD covers are even uglier than Blu-Ray covers. I'm glad these are off the market soon...

I doubt the blu-ray cases will change. The cardboard snapper cases were used only by Warner and Image Entertainment. Everyone else released their movies in the same style of case that is used now. Although, Disney experimented with the same style of case they used for thier VHS animated titles. I think they only released George of the Jungle in one of those white flimsy clamshell cases.

I really don't like buying movies or sets that are in huge boxes or shaped boxes that are different than most, they are harder to store with your other movies.

Although I personally like the smaller blue cases compared to DVD, I understand what he is saying. Some of these blu-ray discs cost twice as much as a regular DVD, so if we have to pay a premium on price, we should get a better package so we can feel that extra value in our hands. I know most of you will say that the extra value is on screen, but some of you have to admit that our collections are also about more than just what's inside the case. We put our collections on shelves and have to look at them. So I can understand where he is coming from, although like I said, I do personally like the blue cases.

The cases need to be incredibly small with legible font on the side. The problem with big collections is the amount of space taken up. That is ony benefit of downloadable content, and probably the only one I am willing to freely admit.

so you are a collector of cases then? i mean the dvd cases look good in your opinion but the movies themselves look like crap. Bluray cases are ugly in your opinion but the movies look grat... yes you seem like a home theatre enthusiast.

The packing is an important thing that distinguish a disc from a downloaded file. For me, downloading would never be an option but I think a lot of other people will only buy a disc if they see clear advantages compared to a cheap download...
