Silent House (2012) expected for August

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment expects to bring the horror remake this August.

Still no further info on what specific date but its expected to be a Combo Pack featuring the BD+DVD+Ultraviolet DC.

Never got around to seeing this and I heard fairly good things about the film so I will pick it up when its released. Elizabeth Olsen sure seems to be a very good actress much better than her twin sisters Mary kate and Ashley

I thought it was okay, could have been scary - which it wasn't. I didn't like how the movie looked out of focus for like 98% of the movie, hurt my eyes/head at times.

Really liked it. Was impressed by the way it was made and Elizabeth Olsen was incredible, especially when you consider how difficult it would be to stay on your game with limited cuts. Also really dug the twist which I thought elevated the movie. I think it's being unfairly bashed by audiences but horror movie audiences are so finicky. It's an interesting psychological film made even better by Olsen's performance. It's not scary, IMO, but it's not that kind of horror movie. Though I know others who found it to be pretty scary.

Generic thriller, little scares and cliche, "been there, been done" twist. Cool that it was all one take, or maybe edited well enough to appear so, but it couldn't save it.

the box office reciepts for the Saw franchise would say otherwise

I don't know why this film was so divisive. I thought It was incredibly well made and I too thought the ending was pretty good. I just think people don't like to feel cheated. And that's what most people felt with this particular ending.

Yup. Spanish from Uruguay and it goes by La Casa Muda which I didn't enjoy at all. Never saw this new version but Im sure its superior from what I keep hearing (Elizabeth Olsen)

My problem is that I've seen it before. There's movies that it's okay to be predictable, like a slasher, and then there's movies where predictability is just annoying. This one was the latter.

I actually enjoyed the original Spanish language version. Wasn't mind blowing, that's for sure, but it kept me intrigued throughout. Will give this a shot since Olsen was so great in MMMM.

And for the folks complaining about the ending, at least it wasn't as bad as the ending for The Devil Inside

Just watched the movie... My opinion?

Elizabeth Olsen, did a really good job though. Her performance made the movie salvageable from the disaster category to watchable. It also helps that she's really hot.

I'd give it a 4.5/10. Would have been lower had they given the role to some nobody that they could probably save a few bucks from. With the plot suffering from being to generic to other horror flicks while having some sort of twist to the end, I can't recommend this movie. There were a few chills here and there, but nothing to really get you rattled. The ending was a twist to me at least, because I've never watched the Spanish version but that doesn't mean I liked the ending. Obviously, if your intrigued by stories like this, I'd recommend at least a watch/rental but not a blind buy on blu-ray for regular price or even release day price..

I can't freakin' wait to own it, probably my favorite film of the year so far. So excited.


By the way, Kenneth Brown got it wrong in his review. This is a 2012 film, not a 2011 film.
