Default "Unofficial" trilogies/series and related movies

As someone who watches way too many movies, a lot of them start to connect in my mind due to their similarities despite lacking any official connection. I've made up a lot of my own "unofficial trilogies" and though some of my descriptions/titles might suck, I think you'll see what I mean with the movies I list together. Here's what I've come up with so far in life:

"British main character in a mindless action movie" trilogy: Crank, Shoot Em Up, Wanted

"Jake Gyllenhaal time travel" trilogy: Donnie Darko, Prince of Persia, Source Code

"Comedian in a semi-serious, existential role in a world that literally revolves around the main character" trilogy: Groundhog Day, The Truman Show, Stranger than Fiction

"Alone in space with a simple, similar title" trilogy: Solaris, Sunshine, Moon

"Drugs are bad" trilogy: Requiem for a Dream, Trainspotting, Traffic

I almost want to put Rear Window and Disturbia into a duology but that's almost too obvious. I could also bunch together movies based on works by Stephen King or Philip K. Dick or whoever, but that's not exactly what I'm talking about either.

Can anyone come up with their own trilogies/series? Or any movies that should be grouped with my trilogies? Or even better names for my trilogies, lol?

What's to follow is also, not exactly what I meant originally, but whatever... My thread, my (lack of) rules... I think I've seen stuff like this referred to as "spiritual sequels," but these particular examples are more concretely connected (director, actors):

I'm a huge fan of Gattaca, and while I didn't really like In Time, I thought it was a phenomenal companion piece/spiritual sequel to Gattaca. In Time reminded of Gattaca sososo much.

And then there's Tommy Boy (awesome) and Black Sheep (meh).

David Lynch's 'Los Angeles' trilogy: Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire

Michelangelo Antonioni's 'alienation', 'existential', or 'Vitti' Trilogy: L'Avventura, La Notte, L'Eclisse. Quadrilogy if you include Red Desert (Il Deserto Roso), as most do

Roman Polanski could fit into "The Apartment Trilogy" AND the "Unasked For Sex Trilogy"
