United Kingdom How to organise Blu-rays with foreign text on the cover?

I organise most of my Blu-rays in alphabetical order. However I own some movies which have foreign text on the cover / spine e.g. my 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' is called 'Det Regnar Kottbullar'. Should I put this with films beginning with 'C' (which looks odd), or my films beginning with 'D' (I might not remember its foreign name)? Thanks!

I organise them using the English title as that's the title i'll be thinking of when deciding on a film. For example 'Krieg der Welten' is filed under W for War of the Worlds.

Es kommt ein Punkt in Ihrem Leben, wenn Sie haben werden, einige wirklich harte und wichtige Entscheidungen auf eigene Faust zu machen.

Genau, Alex

I arrange them under their original title so "Frankenstein Junior" (German release) goes under Y for "Young Frankenstein".

You could always print out the UK or US spine, then slot "Det Regnar Kottbullar" in with the C's

Sorting priorities for me are:

  • Relation to another film
  • English title
  • Original title

Say I buy Ichi the Killer. I would put that under I, and not K, even though the film is originally called Koroshiya 1.

When I got the French Conan 2-Pack (Barbarian / Destroyer), I also got Red Sonja, which in France is called Kalidor. With that I skipped both K and R, and put it right next to the Conan Box, due to the "relation" to the Conan films. Or, to me at least, they're the same kind of movies as the Conan movies, with the male lead being the same as in Conan. So it kind of depends.

I never actually thought about how complicated and nerdy this is before now.

Edit: Just thought of another example...
I just ordered the UK Clint Eastwood Collection, which has the Leone trilogy and Hang 'Em High in it. I also ordered the Italian Fistful Of Dollars (which is called Per un pugnio di dollari originally), and the Italian Sergio Leone Collection with the two remaining parts of the trilogy and My Name Is Nobody. And everything will be put under C for Clint Eastwood Collection, skipping all the original titles. It' s weird, but it works for me. I know where everything is...
If I only got the Italian Fistful, and nothing else, it would be put under P for Per un pugnio di dollari. Allright, time to end this. My OCD is foaming at the mouth right now.

I think that's it though. The best method is the one that makes it easiest for you personally to find the film you want to watch.

That is true. Put everything where it it's natural for you to put it. Here's an idea to the OP though. Have you thought about having a dedicated section for all your imports? Doesn't really make sense if you only have one or two of them, but if you have a lot of them.

Yeah, I've just put them in order by their original English title. I only have a couple, so I don't need a section just for imports. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Putting them where there English counterpart would be is the only way, after all where would you put a Japanese import that has no character in common with English

If it's a foreign language movie I'll catalogue it by it's own language. If it's an English language movie but purchased in a foreign land it will be filed by it's English title, regardless of cover text.

One that always annoys me is La Haine. Would you file it under L or H? Translated, it's called The Hate and so, should be filed under H not T, but that to me looks wrong. I mean, hell, I have no problem filing Le Pact de Loups under P. It's just that one title...
