Default Need more family films

I have a three and six year old boys in the house. My six year old would watch just about anything we would let him, but Pirates of the Carribean is as violent as we would allow and it would scare the mess out of the three year old. I am a huge home theater enthusiast and have almost 70 films on Blu-ray. The problem is that there are very few movies that are of decent quality that the entire family can enjoy. Obviously we have Cars, Meet the Robinsons, Rat, Sky Captain and others, but the percentage of enjoyable movies the whole family can watch is rather poor. This is rather surprising to me being that the PS3 is the cornerstone of the format. Disney is doing well, and those movies are great, but in my opinion for every Day of the Dead there should be a Goonies. Granted some of the big catalog titles like Back to the Future, Indiana Jones (still too violent for my kids right now), E.T., and Transformers are on other studios, but it sure would be nice to have more to choose from.

And when they are 17 and 14, I am sure they will absolutely love it and get McLovin fake IDs, but it will be several years before they see that one.

I agree with the lack of quality PG titles.

Blockbuster is only supposed to play G rated movies in store. Which limits them to like two titles.

I first watched Aliens when I was 6 because Alien 3 was coming out and a copy of Aliens on VHS was in my house, and Aliens is my number one movie of all time.

I turned out ok...

Are there any good family movies coming from Warner this year? The Wizard of OZ is coming. I'm sure Disney has a few unannounced titles coming. We are all still new adaptors to a HD movie format. These things just take time at this stage of the game unfortunately. Up-scaled DVD isn't so bad for the kids.

And as long as I am on this rant, there is also the strange desire to release the recent sequels and wait on the originals. X-Men 3 but not 1 or 2. Ice Age 2 (deceptively not called Ice Age 2) before Ice Age. That is just stupid. Remaster and release them all at the same time. Those all would be instant buys for my family. My kids certainly loved Spiderman 1-3.
