just out of wondering why do some americans think everything should be there first. I'm not implying it to anyone but I think its a bit unfair that you get most of the realeases earlier a considerate amount of the time and then if it gets released in europe first you sometimes get in a strop. Its just kinda anoying cos you tend to get earlier releases at cheaper prices.
Not implying that to anyone especially not the starter of this thread its just a general observation. |

The USA helps create a lot of electronics and movies. Having something your country made first is only fair. Not saying we made this Panasonic though.

Well it always come in markets first
Japan standalone support is very poor right now, most people have either recorder or PS3 Us is Prolific. Europe slow adoption of HD make it slower, but they deverse product push. Altought they price suck for hardware.. |

However, it's not a perfect world, but it is a little strange that the BD50 gets released in Europe in February... but USA has to wait until May/June... unless (most likely) they are simply trying to get enough units manufactured to start releasing them in the USA... which is more difficult than getting enough units manufactured to start releasing them in Europe. ~Alan |

It goes something like this, first Japanese folk left
the great island of Japan to found United States, after many years they sent settlers to found UK, but they sent settlers from both Japan and US which caused a array of strange languages to form. This is why we expect Japan-USA-Europe part of the United JUE foundation. Im sorry if that offended anyone.... I just hope no one takes this the wrong way. |

Are there any Europeans on this board who have gotten the player and want to give their 1st Impressions?
Just curious as to how it works. Unless it hasn't been sold yet? |

I disagree. If you already have an HDMI 1.3 AVR (I do) and don't care about BD profile 2.0 (I don't) then the BD30 and BD50 are essentially equivalent which in fact makes the BD30 a much better bargain based on the expected price differential.

If you don't have a HDMI 1.3 AVR (which most people don't) the BD50 is a much better choice. Not only does it have internal decoding capabilities for TrueHD and DTS HD-MA, but for non HDMI AVR owners (which is probably the majority) it offers 7.1 analog audio. Let's face it, the BD50 is a much better choice overall and even if you don't care about Profile 2.0 it's a much better upgrade compared to the BD30. The BD50 is said to be targeted at a $599 pricepoint, $100 bucks more expensive than the BD30, which is quite a steal! The BD50 makes the BD30 seem overpriced, which it probably is. |
