I have searched and searched and I cannot find any news about this being brought to blu ray. It makes me sad that there are no current plants to bring this wonderful film into the world of high definition.

Count me in as well..thought this was a release announcement. Love this movie..all of Weir's films need to be on Blu.

Unfortunately this is just one of many films that should be released on Blu-ray.

I watched Witness for the first time last night and omg, it's officially one of my favourite 80's movies. It looked so bad on my dvd though. Most artifacts you can think of were raging in it. Still, I got it for $2.50 and I don't regret buying it because it was such a nice experience even with the poor picture quality.

When it get's released on blu-ray, if it doesn't already come with a dvd, I'll just chuck the dvd in and make a combo pack. No point in trying to sell it off when that's all I payed for it so I'm cool with that. It's moved WAY up my list of most wanted blu-ray's now. Really hoping for a good blu-ray transfer though basically anything would be an improvement over my dvd.

I highly doubt it will happen but I would love to see Criterion release this. I know, I know, people say that about every movie they fall in love with and it's because if they release it, it's almost guarentee'd to look gorgeous which is everyone's dream for the movies they want on blu-ray and I'm no different here. I just loved how it looked and want to see it look incredible. Here's to hoping it gets announced soon!

I'm amazed it's taking so long for so many amazing films to be released on blu-ray after almost 7 years. I suppose they're always going to try and keep some beloved films unreleased for ages to keep people on their toes but it just sucks. I doubt 4K will take over blu-ray but with more advanced formats coming along it really is just crappy that a lot of great films are still unreleased.

I'm not pre-ordering this yet as there is a good chance this will get a nice price drop around or shortly after its release date. I'm thrilled this is finally getting a blu release.

I wonder if since this is a paramount title it could happen...

In case anyone missed it, his other collaboration with Harrison is coming out next month in Spain, The Mosquito Coast.
