Seeing as though my original thread has gone kaput, I thought I would start this new one.

I saw this recently. It's nothing special, I'm afraid, though I daresay some will like it for the occasional bursts of violence. Gary Oldman's hardly in it, Guy Pearce is kind-of ridiculous, Tom Hardy is unconvincing.The parts for the women are insultingly shallow. The central character is really Shia La Boeuf, which might disappoint some.

It's a very average movie, imo, with only its setting to mark it as anything unusual. Lower your expectations and you might enjoy it more than I did.

I'm anxious as hell to hear the soundtrack. Nick Cave doing bluegrass... I'm afraid I may explode from the sheer awesomeness.

he's having quite a year, music for this and wrote the script, plus he has the score of West of Memphis and Killing Them Softly

this was beyond awesome. easily my favorite Hillcoat film. Guy Pearce was creepy as hell, one of the best movie villains in recent years and easily one of his best roles. Tom Hardy was a stone cold badass and got a lot of chuckles from the audience (in a good way) without doing anything particularly funny (when you see it youll understand). Shia LaBeouf was also really good in this, which is fortunate since he is the main focus of the film. the guy catches a lot of flack and the only thing id seen him in prior was Indiana Jones (and that didnt instill me with great confidence) but he pulled it off exceptionally. Jessica Chastain was also excellent and knock-out gorgeous, she really cut through the grit and grime that surrounded her. i could really go on and on about the cast, they were all great. the look and atmosphere as well as the music were all just perfect too. my only complaint was that Gary Oldman should have had more screen time. can we get a poll up?

i'm looking forwards to watch this. I like Hardy and Pearce and Oldman being in this sold it for me. Hopefully it'll come out soon here in the UK

Just saw this (it randomly came to the theatre around here, I don't know or care why, as I don't believe in looking a gift-horse in the mouth), and it was awesome. Best prohibition movie since the Untouchables that I can think of offhand. Shia LaBeouf does great, showing that he is not a bad actor, he is just in bad movies (although I have no doubt his check from this will be 1% as large as his check from Transformers, so although those films suck and this is great, I can't truly blame him, I guess).
