Default Anchor Bay... where are you?

Any info on weather or not Anchor Bay is still in the game Blu-wise? Been pretty quiet for a while now.

Yes, they just haven't announced any new titles yet. Undoubtedly they were seeing how their Halloween/Christmas stuff did before making any commitments

Apparently the 'Dead' transfers (Evil, Day, Dawn) were not very good quality - some even say less than DVD. Hopefully there are R & Ding this before they release anything else.

Dawn of the Dead was a very noticeable upgrade from the DVD. I've compared the Blu and the new 4 disc DVD set back to back and the upgrade in quality is stunning.

No, that was people just whining that those movies don't look very good to begin with because they're low budget 20 year old horror movies for the first 2, and for the second it's how Romero wants it to look

I'm curious about Magnolia as well... haven't heard anything from them since The Host, I believe.

Tartan is another -- Oldboy not sell enough yet? (I bought it!)

I own the DEAD movies, and Beowulf and Grendel. The PQ of the Blu-ray is a great improvemnet over the DVD!

Who are the idiots that say those are worse than DVD?

The transfers on those films are the best they have ever looked. It's not like those films were released last year with a high budget.

As for Anchor Bay, the have a nice library of titles that many would like to see on Blu.

"To Kill a King"?

This site and HDD show it coming to blu-ray on Feb. 26th. Has that been delayed or something?

Anchor Bay site still has it listed: http://www.anchorbayentertainment.co...ID=4&GenreID=0

Glad to hear that Dawn and Day of the Dead have great PQ...

What about Anchor's Evil Dead transfer?

I own Halloween, Dawn of the Dead and Evil Dead II. All three look great on Blu-ray IMO.

That sounds strange to me. I found the BR to be better than my THX copy. Not substantially, but I could definitely tell one was upconverted DVD and one was BR.

I don't think the BR and THX came from the same master though, so I'm curious as to how much better the THX master would have looked on BR -- probably not much, but I'd bet it would be a little better than what we got.

Supposedly, the BR came from the same master as the later Divimax Book Of The Dead edition. I have neither, so can't comment.

EDII looks the worst of the four horror titles, but that has to do more with the source material than anything else.

But the BD is a definite upgrade compared to the DVD.

I'll back up the nice pq of the Romero flicks and Beowulf & Grendel. Anyone complaining about how Dawn of the dead looks obviously never saw it.

Great question.

I am anxiously awaiting more title announcements from Anchor Bay. Bring on the horror.
