Default DVD Forum approves Chinese HD DVD Standard

DVD Forum approves Chinese HD DVD Standard

They did it. They approved a chinese HD DVD standard. It's called C-HD DVD.
Quote:
Approval of
DVD Specifications for China High Density Read-Only Disc (C-HD DVD-ROM) Physical Specifications, Version 10.0 (or China Only)
It appear to be the same discs, with minor physical adjustments and a simplification of the video-application layer. Is this EVD v2.0?

I noticed in your sig that you have Weinstein listed as neutral but I thought they were HD-DVD exclusive. Did they go neutral sometime recently?

I did an org chart with input from many members here showing the red/blue/neutral studios.

Nice chart.

And... I don't think it'll mean a lot to the BD camp, nor the BD vs HD DVD. China is a weird country concerning optical formats.

for the blu-ray hd dvd wars right know means nothing but in 5 years down the road when we have our format of choice we will not see 10$ player like we do know(some chines factory's do not pay royalties) i have read that china wanted its own format so there would be lower royalties(for the chines) and to just make there own in the future you know having there own format instead of being dependent of the west.
