This thread is sure to be subjective and let's hope everyone knows the role of the cinematographer/director of photography.

Some come to mind:

Moulin Rouge
Pan's Labyrinth
Seabiscuit
The Lovers On The Bridge
Dracula (Coppola)
Amadeus
The Fall

Malick didn't do the cinematography on those.

Emmanuel Lubezki - Tree of Life
Néstor Almendros/Haskell Wexler - Days of Heaven

Hero - Ying Xiong - Zhang Yimou - best of - YouTube
I wish Hero had gotten a decent release somewhere other than Korea. Everywhere else got an inferior transfer and lossy audio.

It's all personal taste. Take your pick.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy...Cinematography

Jack Cardiff movies eg. The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus

I haven't seen Baraka yet. Barry Lyndon is close for me.

The way it is worded in my opinion sounds like he did do the cinematography, but anyways: Schindler’s List has some damn good cinematography in it.
