Default Can anybody recommend some good knives?

I wan't to buy my brother a good set for his first apartment, but not pay more then $250.00 any suggestions?

This is one item that you often find the quality is reflected by the price. Higher the price, higher the quality. Here are some good sets between the 250-300 range.

Also once you find a set, look on Amazon, sometimes you can get them alittle cheaper there.

I went looking for a good chef's knife a couple of years ago, I picked up a cheap Wiltshire knife from K'mart to learn how to sharpen it properly with a stone and Steel before buying that 100 dollar plus Knife. Well with just a little bit of practice I can get that $25.00 knife so sharp I can shave the hairs off my arm. So I never bothered buying that expensive Knife. I couldn't see the point.

Whatever set you get just teach him how to sharpen them properly
