United Kingdom The Keys of the Kingdom

The Keys of the Kingdom Blu-ray PRE-ORDER

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=8957

Quote:
British distributors Odeon Entertainment have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of director John M. Stahl's The Keys of the Kingdom (1944), starring Gregory Peck, Vincent Price, and Thomas Mitchell. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is September 10th.

After losing his parents and his childhood sweetheart to tragedy, Francis Chisholm (Peck) joins the priesthood and devotes himself to a life of service and compassion. But Chisholm's unorthodox beliefs raise eyebrows among his superiors, especially Bishop Angus Mealy (Vincent Price). And when he is sent to the farthest reaches of China to rebuild an abandoned mission, Chisholm faces his greatest challenge of all: to tame a hostile land, win over a superstitious people and save his parish from an invading army.

Based on A.J. Cronin's novel and produced by Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve, Cleopatra), in 1946 The Keys of the Kingdom earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Cinematography (Arthur C. Miller).

Interesting. Odeon have acquired a number of titles from Fox for DVD release but this is the first Blu-ray. I wonder if some of those Fox Twilight Time releases will eventually appear.

any classic from the 40's is a bd I want to get.
It would be great to one day see every single Fox studio classic dvd receive a bd upgrade.
the extremely slow march continues......

I certainly hope so as for me their prices are unacceptable.

Odeon have a terrific DVD catalog so if they start releasing their titles on Blu-ray the market will get very interesting.

I hope this is still set for release on blu. Amazon changed the date to 3/29 and the product page is now listed as "The Keys of the Kingdom [1944] [DVD]"

I was referring to the slow march of bds of titles that are part of the Fox "studio classics" line.
Keys to the Kingdom is spine number 39.

yeah what is going on regarding this release?
shows a dvd now--as noted in post #7 above.
and the release date keeps getting further and further away.
Is Odeon not releasing a bd at all now?
wish someone could find out.

Amazon just changed the release date to tomorrow, May 20th, but it's a DVD. Couldn't have had any shorter notice. Confused. Hoping we get a blu-ray at some point.
