United Kingdom Best Place To Get Non Re-Sealed Discs

Dunno if there has been a thread about discs that have been re-sealed and sold as new before ..

I'm sick to the back teeth of ordering from Amazon at a premium , paying express shipping and pre-paying custom charges only to get discs that have obviously been re-sealed. its varied from obvious shelf worn cardboard cases to warped plastic covers, to discs with fingerprints or scratches.

I want a company that don't reseal.

in my experience amazon are the worse offenders. had a couple from movie mars re-sealed and Inet too. Bluraysforeveryone ive had two re-sealed sold as new and hdmoviesource too. DVDEmpire ive had 1 re-sealed. Deep discount ive had 6.

wondered thoughts out there and the best % wise company that dont re-seal.

I truly wish i didnt need to think about this when buying, but my buying experience is ruined when i have to worry if discs i order are new or not.

sent countless ones back to amazon only to get worse ones !!

If you buy on release date then they will be brand new.

The problem is if you wait for sale prices then you risk reseals. In the UK retailer returns which have been returned to the distributor can be sold on as new.

Have had reseals from Amazon, HMV (slip case has definite store wear and hole in wrap where red tag security device goes was broken), Play and Zavvi.

One plus I had in a Tesco return, still had their sticker sold on by Amazon was Time Bandits UK DVD from Anchor Bay. Was the original recalled version which had Cleese saying the F word in the commentary.

It's unavoidable. If you buy from Amazon, at least they have fantastic customer services/returns scheme.

Yes i have started to buy on release date, costs a lot more but at least i can be sure its New !

yes amazon returns are good although, like i previously said ive returned one particular blu ray 4 x (V Season 1) and every one was a re-seal

you shouldnt need to worry about something like that when buying

and esp old releases which i want to buy a few off i know the risk increases

Yeah i bought The Matrix off amazon recently, took nearly 3 weeks to arrive, only for it to be a reseal

The cover had ripples to it but the disc looked good as new, so decided to just keep it.

I had this recently with Amazon (not been the first time either)...I purchased The Tale of Desperaux on Blu-ray and when it arrived it had that cling film wrapping on it and i knew without removing it that the case was in bad shape...marked, scratched, you name it.

Fortunately as others have pointed out, Amazon do have fantastic customer servies/returns policy, and I was refunded within days.

Re-Sealed Blu-rays really annoy me...BIG TIME!!!!

I used to go the route of only buying blu's as soon as they came out as to avoid re-seal jobs but it became too expensive. Now I just wait for a months down the line and get them off ebay where I can see for myself (when they have an actual picture of the item) that they are in the original cellophane and don't have any marks and whatnot. I avoid buying anything that's been out for a while from online retailers because of this.

I've never had this problem. Amazon (US/UK) always sent me the BDs brand new sealed.

Others I've used in the past were Zavvi and TheHut, pretty much the same company.

I've never had a reseal as far as I know, and I think I would be able to tell.

I guess they just keep sending out a reseal until a customer decides not to send it back. Perhaps overall it's cheaper to keep paying postage instead of throwing it away and losing the cost of it.

What I mean is, if everybody sent them back they would probably stop resealing them, but there must be enough people who don't notice or don't care for them to carry on.

i think you hit the nail on the head there, if everyone refused reseals they would stop doing it.

i think also amazon should ONLY accept a return if its damaged or faulty, and they dispose of the item

I don't think I've gotten a re-seal in the hundreds of titles I got from Amazon, but recently I got a couple that were not sealed at all. They were like-new so I didn't make a fuss.

People tend to open damaged or faulty goods so there's always a chance they'll get put back into circulation re-sealed if they aren't disposed of. If Amazon included a returns clause for items that weren't damaged or faulty saying they need to be still sealed to be refunded then we wouldn't have a problem.

I've only had a couple of problems with Amazon direct with one opened and damaged DVD been sold as new, they replaced that 1st class.

Most retailers have Ebay outfit these days. Amazon could sell their own stuff on their own marketplace as Like New or on Ebay like Argos and Tesco's.

Having 25% of your orders resealed is horrible though. Have you contacted Amazon and told them of your concerns?
