Default Game Genie Save Editor for PS3

http://www.thegamegenie.com

[Show spoiler]There have been numerous questions that a lot have you been asking regarding the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3, and we would like to take the time out to address the most frequently asked questions that you all have had about the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3.

Q. How does the Game Genie: Save Editor PS3 work?
A. The Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 allows you to transfer your save files from your PS3 to your PC in order to write codes onto the save file that unlock a variety of enhancements like max money or max experience.

Q. Will the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 interfere with online gameplay?
A. No. The enhancements are not designed to carry over to online gameplay. As such, the enhancements should not interfere or affect online gameplay. If we find any that do affect online multi-player gameplay, we will block those cheats.

Q. Will the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 interfere with trophy acquisition?
A. Yes. Most of the enhancements will disable majority of the trophy acquisitions. Because the trophy system is based on achieving certain accomplishments under certain conditions, some of the enhancements of the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 will disrupt some of those conditions and make many trophies unobtainable. Some trophies will still be obtainable even with enhancements on, such as obtaining a certain item at a shop that was obtained using a max amount of money.

Q. But I want my trophies! How do I go back and make my enhanced save file able to earn trophies again?
A. The PC program installed on the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 keeps a back-up of every unedited save file before writing new enhancements on them if the option is turned on (it is turned on by default). The original save file will be in a back up folder on your PC; the original, unedited one will be the one saved at the earliest date.

Q. Does the Game Genie have a hexdecimal editor?
A. Yes, the Game Genie program has a hexdecimal editor that you can use to create your own codes.

Q. Will the Game Genie be able to unlock on-disc DLC?
A. No. You will not be able to unlock on-disc DLC with the Game Genie: Save Editor.

Q. When will it be released?
A. Our target release date at this time is the first week of July 2012.

Q. How much will it cost?
A. The MSRP of the Game Genie: Save Editor for PS3 is $29.99

Q. Is it okay to cheat at my games?
A. Who’s to say what’s right and what’s wrong in how you play video games? You’re free to do whatever you want to make gaming as fun as possible!

Ahhh, many fond memories on my Nintendo using the Game Genie for Super Mario Bros. 3 & on my Genesis for Battletoads!

I don't know if I'll get this version...I might.

i still remember using the pro to find certain things in games even when there was no "code" for it.

I would pick up one of these. I think it would be nice to run back through some of my older games with extra ammo, max health and other fun things.

I rarely use Game Mod devices, but i do keep them handy for a few things.

I've had times in excessively hard survival games where I sharked in some supplies to keep from having to restart.

Also: I'm ok with using them to eliminate grind times for levels and rare items that take absurdly long to get.

In the first video, during the part where they show the Max Orbs code for God of War 3, they clearly earn a trophy with the code enabled.

That's not cool, man.

Isn't that the purpose of an RPG?

lmao, i remember using a free sample CD that i had with FFX, man it was awesome getting all the celestial weapons and stuff as a kid lol.

Tbh, if i was gonna finish a game, i'd do it without any of these saves etc first but for trophy hunters wanting to speed the process up, this might be useful.

I wouldn't want this anywhere near modern consoles. All it's gonna do is wreck online multiplayer games with constant hacking...but if it's used to unlock on disc DLC that was intentionally left to squeeze more money out of suckers, I'm fine with that.

I don't see that happening at all unless some stupid devs allowed you to use almost all your single player character and equipment etc. Usually they're split systems with no link to equipment etc so no problems should occur.

I have to agree with you on this one...normally I'd want to conquer a game without help, but for trophies and etc., that I don't mind. I last used a game genie in the NES days...it was awesome to play Contra with just the Spreader the entire game!! Or infinite P wings on Mario Bros. 3!!

Agreed. There is alot of times I will finish a game with 85% trophies complete & I never go back because those last few trophies are a PITA!

Just reading the FAQs on Hyperkin's Blog, it seems that you'll still be able to acquire trophies in most games when the trophy has to deal with getting all weapons, money, etc. All other trophies will be 100% disabled. They're also making sure that the cheat codes will definitely not work during online play. They'll be for single-player campaigns only.

Personally, I'm willing to give this a shot on the games that I love that frustrate me too much... though I will miss my trophies.
