Can a "perfect" Blu-ray collection ever be reached?

Short answer... never.

It's impossible because nobody will be able to have EVERY film they ever want on Blu-ray. Be it because there are SO MANY films still unavailable on the format or that there are SO MANY Blu-rays out there to buy, it's impossible to get everything you want for some reason.

Your point isn't valid based on the fact he meant stuff already on Blu-ray disk.

As said, it depends what your definition of 'perfect' is in this context. If perfect means every single movie released on Blu-ray then yes, it is achievable but not exactly realistic for almost everybody or even possible. It's right up there next to the thing you'd say is just about possible because its just the one before you reach impossible.

Also, by perfect i'd assume you meant no double dipping of movie titles because then you'd get into complications such as steelbook, VIVA (Petra ), Metal, Iron Pack, Amarays etc. So if it's just a single version of a movie in either form for Blu-ray, yes, it is possible.

I think it could be possible to have a perfect collection, depending on your definition of perfect and exactly what Blu-Rays you collect. For example, I solely collect Disney Blu-Rays. So, if I were to have every Disney Blu-Ray available at a certain time in my collection, I would consider that perfect. But if you just generally collect all Blu-Rays, then no.

I honestly don't get why having every single blu-ray even if collected 'generally' which imo isn't exactly something general wouldn't be 'perfect'. He would have every single title released and can compile all the big and well received releases in one section, animation etc in another like a library of sorts. Of course then, some people may say well the collections not perfect as blah blah blah was released in digipack as well as steelbook etc and this feature was on this release etc.

So you would have to almost endlessly dip into the same titles. As i said before, this questions only got a appropriate answer once you give that 'perfect'a definition for this context.

Assuming though somebody does all the endless dipping and did manage to get everything in their collection and looking beyond the ridiculous amount of money needed that totally the bank account, the next problem for 'perfect' would probably end up being how you displayed them

Ah yes, that is true . Still, a perfect collection? Mmmm... I dunno. I'm pretty happy with mine so far, but I'm not sure if I'll ever consider mine perfect. Although, I suppose if I had all the movies I wanted on Blu and with the best possible A/V presentation, then it could qualify as "perfect".

It is possible but only by matter of perception. That being said there is a difference between perfect and perfected. Perfect being pliable... dependent upon new developments day by day. Perfected would only be proven once BDs are no longer being released. Then that pliant "Perfect" that has been maintained is now perfected.
