I just watched series four and am really looking forward to series five being delivered from America. These Blu-rays are the most enjoyable in my collection.

They don't have a good release in the UK? That would seem counter-intuitive.

The programmes are repeated constantly on television so the demand is probably not there. However, the episodes look nothing like the Blu-rays!

I suppose that makes sense. And yes the Blu-rays are very nice looking indeed.

Amazon.ca has a pre-order for Poirot Early Cases Collection which I assume is a box with the first 6 seasons. Release date is 09/04. People who held out on getting the series sets may find this box a better deal.

I wonder if this will just have a slipcase containing the 6 series or if it will have some special custom packaging.

Thanks for the news!

Awesome cover, great price too, but I'm very happy with my individual series releases.

Now, I really hope they announce Series 7-8, and 9, 10, 11 soon. I also hope they re-release Seson 12 in a matching cover!

I emailed Acorn Media the Series 6 review and this was the response:

Hello James,

I looked into this and yes, the picture quality on that particular section isn't as great as others. The master material we got from the producers was different (and all that was available) for that particular section so this is as good as we could make it.

Thanks,

Alexis

Fair enough. I have all the Seasons on Blu (and the remaining on DVD) and I can't wait to get Season 7-11 on Blu-ray.

Do you think Acorn will do the A&E series also?

I asked about them releasing the next series and got this reply:

Quote:
We don’t have the rights to Series 7 – 10 at the moment. They’re still held by A&E but we would like to own and release all of the Poirot episodes, yes. We’re in the process of that and would hope to have something available next year.
Looks like we just have to wait for the rights to expire or be renegotiated. Certainly the speed of the releases indicates that they've sold quite well. I've held off on the Orient Express season - I'm hoping for a matching collection by the time they get that far!

Default Box Set Cheaper from Acorn

Acorn Media is running a special through October 31st. If you purchase 4 Acorn titles, all of them are priced at 40% off. So the Early Cases Blu-ray Box Set drops to $150.

They have a number of interesting titles that were shown on Masterpiece Theatre that are on sale for $19.99 (no further discount).

So the Box Set + 3 Acorn sale titles = $10 less than Amazon's price for just the Box Set.

S6 is $23.99 on Amazon now (but maybe not for long).

Can anyone confirm that the Spanish versions have "soft subtitles" and aren't burned in to the video. If they aren't I will certainly be buying then. If they do I will hold out for an UK/AUS release.

Amazon just dropped the set to $84.99. Pretty good. I was waiting for a good price cause I wanted this for my mom, but it was so expensive everywhere else.

Was this collection ever confirmed as a bundle of the individual seasons or a single package with all the discs?

Also, this set is listed on Blu-ray.com with 13 discs while the individual 1-6 releases contain 14 discs in total. Is there a disc missing from the collection?
