United Kingdom More possible play.com steelbooks on the way

Over at HDN there was a poll (its closed now) asking what blu rays people would like to be released as a steelbook for play.com.

Wreck started the poll and he knows pretty much everything that goes on at play.com. If you read the posts he even says the ones with the most votes will def be produced and will be released at different times.

They are as followed:

War of the Worlds
Transformers 1
Transformers 2
Transformers 3
Stardust
Cloverfield
Zulu
Mission Impossible 1
Mission Impossible 2
Mission Impossible 3
Anchorman
Untouchables
The Ring
The Ring 2

U can pretty much guarantee the ones voted the most will be plays next steelbooks. not very impressed by the titles myself but you can check out the results below.

it basically means mission impossible 1-3, untouchables, transformers 1 will be the winners

i would of personally loved to of seen a ring steelbook as its not even released in europe on blu ray yet! oh well...............

Zulu is already announced so uneccessary to be on that poll. Star dust would be nice with a english title but movies nothing special. War of the Worlds is kinda in the same position as Stardust as well.

Cloverfield has a decent Amazon.de version with an english title so not bothered. Anchorman isn't bad from what i hear (never watched it tbh) but not a movie i would have considered neccessary as a request for a steelbook.

I'd personally go for the Transformers and MI trilogy steelbooks as individual releases. Indy collection as stand alone steelbooks would have been nice as well. Untouchables is a great movie so hope that wins out and the Ring movies are a bit 'meh' to me, so not fussed over them.

Indy, Transformers, Mssion Imposible and Untouchables are what i would hope for mostly

The German release has the synopsis (in German) on the back of the actual SteelBook. It has a Blu-ray banner on the front, and it has no interior artwork. So a Play.com release without all of those problems would be welcomed by me.

Depending on artwork and price after shipped to the US, I could easily be interested in a number of these

untouchables im very happy about but mission impossible 1-3 need new transfers first. MI 1 looks terrible, one of the worst looking blu rays i have seen so having that in a steel =

transformers 1-3 are avaible in steelbook already from germany, canada etc so its nothing to get excited about regarding those apart from play.com will use fresh new artwork for them, thats for sure

Good point, i suppose that would be reason enough for an updated release. No banner and clean artwork. Price is right, i'd buy em all lol

I agree on the MI transfers. MI3 was the best of the worst they offered. I'd have expected them to be remastered by now tbh. I want them primarily because they're great movies and steelbooks look awesome so with some great artwork they're a great purchase. I usually take the disks out and keep them sealed in protective sleeves or if i got the amaray edition, keep em sealed anyways.

Got real collectors syndrome and i'm only in my first few months of buying . Still, i would say that if your the type to open them, imagining there is a re-release with remastered versions, somebody could always switch them out eventually when the price is right. My personal hope tbh is for that UK member to actually get those shadow cases they were gonna make for the UK up and running. I'd love to just display my steelbooks in there permanently tbh. They're a showpiece for me to eventually use since they look so damn good compared to amarays more than anything. Reason i double dip i guesss too

I meant steelbooks lol. Intentionally anyways lol. I bought Far Cry 2 outta choice but wasn't really familiar with steelbooks as i am now. Just looked like a nice metal case and then The Wolfman was my first movie purchase in steelbook. Case looked really good but movie's a bag of crap. Particularly in the PQ department which made it worse imo.

I'm buying steelbooks at bulldozer pacing though. Went from like 1 movie title to >28 in the space of 3 weeks . I regret nothing. Yet.....

Really don't need/want any of those movies. If they have the embossed border on them like Chronicle/MI4 then I might have to try and pick those up. I don't know why but I love having that border on my steelbooks.

I'd love a Cloverfield one. The HMV DVD steelbook is great, it might be the best use of embossing I've got in my collection. The only reason I haven't upgraded the film to blu-ray is because I don't want to part with it so if they carry the design over it would be perfect.

With MI it would be a good excuse to release the new masters with lossless audio which are already out in Scandinavia (have the 3 film boxset) and HK. However will probably be the crappy originals again.

Why are the not releasing the original Italian Job as that would do very well here.
