That's a good question...it very well could be. The film was slated to have been released on Blu here in the U.S. about 4 years ago and was cancelled last minute by TCF/MGM due to "marketing reasons." It'll be interesting to see how this release stacks up with the 2007 collector's edition DVD. Hoping a U.S. release comes soon, but if it doesn't, I may import this one (so long as it's region-free).

Hopefully we will see the remake released around the same time, MGM's financial difficulties have seen it sitting on a shelf for the past few years.

This is one exception for me with remakes (I hate them). I always thought that original Red Dawn had a great story but bit of "low-budget" stamp on it although the cast is super. I hope it will be like Rambo 2 --> John Rambo type of conversion but more likely you are right and it should have never been done (if it ever comes out).

Hopefully this -84 original will be a quality release so it would be worth double dipping.

This a "classic" from 80's. Great story and some good action (in 80's scale). Never liked the ending that much.

Is there footage about the remake somewhere? Only heard rumours so far...

edit: Trailer already in Imdb, totally missed it so far. Looks good to me but Hemsworth is no match to Swayze and young Charlie Sheen.

It's just been released on 4K by Shout Factory in the US, you can import it here https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B25HKSPV

maybe we will get it from one of the Indie labels in the UK.
