A Sega of Japan release schedule has revealed plans to release Yakuza 1&2 HD Edition.
The game was later removed from the online release schedule, but not before Andriasang managed to take the picture on this screen. ![]() According to the site, the HD remakes of the PS2 games are set to be bundled together on one PS3 Blur-ray disc and released in December 1 for 5,229 (£42.60). Yakuza 5 is also set for release in December. http://andriasang.com/con1xm/yakuza_hd/ |

Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Edition confirmed for PS3
Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Edition has been confirmed by Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu (via Andriasang). The PlayStation 3 upgrade of the PlayStation 2 games launches on 1st November in Japan. As well as the expected HD visuals, load times have been reduced, and you can now manage your item box in the phone booth. Food you've eaten at least once will now have a check mark shown on menus. In Japan there are pre-order bonuses themed around the PS2 versions' packaging. Will Sega release Yakuza 1 and 2 HD Edition in the west? Sega Europe declined to comment when quizzed by Eurogamer this morning. An official unveiling of the game is expected tomorrow. |

Well, pre-order is up on Playasia. Still wonder if NA is going to get a release.

It's way too soon for either this HD Collection and Yakuza 5 to be localized. Since Sega America would include the Japanese voice acting, they want to give Japanese fans plenty of time to buy the game before it reaches America and Europe because of PS3 being Region-Free. Usually it takes about a year before Sega Japan can say it's ok to localize this game.
So in short, Sega is scared of having their fans importing the game as long as Sega America and Europe are going to be using the Japanese voice acting because of how expensive videogames are in Japan. This is also pretty common with Anime companies when their Anime is being released into America since Japan and America share the same Blu-ray Region. |
