CC tried selling me 120HZ hdmi

I obviously did not buy it but they did say with some of the TV's that are 120hz capable...xbr4/5 and the Sammy's, have been having the tbe issues or the mini blinds that I personally get....the newer hdmi's have been helping. I asked the guy to be honest about if it would make a difference, and he said not sure. Has anyone ever heard of or known they now make 120hz cables?

Monster is not a company you should trust...haven't seen them but I wouldn't doubt they would use a term "120hz hdmi cable." Like it was said, just another monster gimmick

It is true that they are "optimized" for the specs listed on the cable. However, their cables that are rated at 60hz will do just as well, but because of the slightly lower bandwidth, they won't guarantee that it will work as well. All HDMI cables are essentially the same, except for shielding, gauge, and build quality. I actually trust monster in the shielding and build quality part, even though they are over priced. A $25 dollar cable should work just as well as their $80 cable though. But think about this next time you try to rip on someone for buying an expensive cable. Do you buy popcorn at the movie theatre? How much do you pay? $6. And how much can you get popcorn for at home when you pop it in the microwave? $1 per bag. Everyone spends money on things that are overpriced, get over it and don't laugh or make anyone feel like they shouldnt buy it. Imagine someone laughing at you when you buy that $6 popcorn.

The $6 popcorn enhances the overall experience that get (well . . . that you used to get) by going to the theater. Also, the popcorn is optional where the HDMI, while also optional, is necessary for most Blu-ray applications.

Monster Cable enhances nothing except their profits You can also get a cable from Blue Jeans for about 25 bucks that's a lot better build quality than Monster. It's not as pretty, but who shows off their cables?

That should go well with the new $19.95 Toshiba DVD up-scalers they just got in.

Are we talking about a HDMI lead that goes from a Blu-ray player to a 120hz HDTV or to a processor or something?

If a HDMI lead is going straight from a player to a 120hz HDTV, why would the lead need to be capable of 120hz (120 fps)? Assuming you are outputting film content at 24p from the player, and you had the motion interpolation turned on on the TV, wouldn't the HDTV itself do the conversion of 24p to 120p (and the lead would only need to be capable of 24p with film content)?

Yeah. That's the comedy, their claim is worthless. No source that I am aware of outputs a 120hz signal.

ok... naturally we all know monster inflates... but did u know... that they developed the first hdmi... helped develope 1080p, and offer a LIFETIME swap out o their 120hz level hdmi... so if that wire ever cannot hold a signal for the 1460p's in the future... or beyond.. they will give you a brand new one. plus... they are making a 120hz blu ray in the next gen sony bdp's. that hdmi specifically will help reduce some of that "shakiness" in the 120 conversion, but simply it has a higher band with, meaning less interference. the longer your hdmi lenght... the better it will help.

Well, the video pixel rate is 25 MHz to 340 MHz (Type A, as of 1.3) or to 680 MHz (Type B)...

So 120 Hz is pretty bad!!!

Seriously, it's a marketing gimmick... 120 Hz for displays is a process done in the display itself, movies are at 24 fps, other content are at 30 fps and 60 fps.

I guess the salesman simply tells the unsuspecting customers: "Well you bought a 120 Hz super fast display, so you need a 120 Hz super fast cable or it will not work." I guess it helps them sell cables!

Its the freaking TV that does the conversion from 24Hz to 120Hz.
Monster is the master of marketing and if you fall for it, then you deserve to get ripped off.

ok, humor the guy for a second. let's assume the cable is in fact tested to carry all the data an HDMI 1.3 should and it manages all that at 120hz... there is no source in 120hz... therefore no reason. the "best" atm is 1080p at 60hz, film recordings are all at 24hz. so why do you need a 120hz cable? can your TV even receive a 120hz signal? answers: you don't, and no.

Basically they are saying that you'll need ultra-high speed monster cable to get 120hz. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite

Yeah-CC is the same place where they were comparing their calibration vs no calibration. The TV advertised as being calibrated was being fed by an hdmi-the uncalibrated TV-fed by old school Composite cables. That's right-radio shack red white and yellow. I wouldn't believe a thing CC tells you.

1) No they will not make a difference because no source outputs in 120Hz. All the processing is done inside the TV.

2) Monster rates their cables now in how much data their rated to transmit. If a source did output 120Hz it would essentially double the amount of data you would send through the cable.

3) They'll trying pushing the Monster lifetime Performance Guarantee which says basically that if something comes out better than what this cable can handle, they'll send you a new one that can.

Here's what you need to do:

Go to monoprice.com and look for the V1.3 rated cable. Probably going for about $4.50 a piece or so. They give you deals if you buy multiples.

And when you need to upgrade in a few years you can just buy another cable for $4.50 instead of buying the Monster for $130.

$9 Twice vs. $130 is something I would take anyway. And the chance of you actually remembering that Monster has this guarantee is slim to none. It's all a marketing scam to rip of the "stupid" consumer. And by stupid I don't mean less intelligent just not knowledgeable in this area.
