Default Question on firmware for ALL Blu-ray players...

I only own PS3, and Blu-ray PC drive. They're upgradeable to whatever profile Sony releases, but I am curious about other players out there.. even the cheapest one. Do they have ethernet ports for upgrade, or are the early adopters screwed?

You can do an upgrade from your computer by downloading the update and burning a DVD with the firmware or you can request a firmware disc from the manufacturer.

EDIT: However, future updates will not necessarily make them profile 1.1 or 2.0 compliant there are hardware features that makeup those standards. The PS3 is the only player to have those hardware components even if the firmware does not take advantage of it yet.

As far as them being screwed it depends on what you mean... they will still be able to watch the movie but not all special features will be available, like PiP or internet interactivity.
