Question

The UK edition is uncut ?

Why the German bluray says 108 min duration, but the UK bluray is 102 min ?!?

Perhaps the German bluray is an Extended Cut, Alternative Cut, Director's Cut ? is possible that an error..?

What is there in that 7 minutes longer than the German Bluray ???

German bluray - Capelight Pictures (ENG+sub): https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Sleep...Blu-ray/34884/

Capelight - Sleeping Beauty - Official Page: http://www.capelight.capevision.de/d...vdItem&id=2731

Link to Sleeping Beauty file PDF for FSK-16 German rating (please read and translate): http://www.spio.de/fskonline/PDF/1201/131027V.pdf

It is an error produced by Amazon.de. I will update our entry for the German release (and will upload the back cover for the German release, which actually lists the running time as 101 min. The exact running time is 01:41:43).

Amazon.de is notorious for listing all sorts of incorrect specs, and especially audio specs. Why they have submitted a running time of 108 minutes is yet another enigma.

Pro-B

Edit: The info on the back cover of the UK Blu-ray release is also incorrect - it reads approximately 98 minutes. Obviously, Revolver quoted the approximate PAL running time. No worries, though, the info we have in our review is correct: The film runs at 102 minutes.

I've noticed errors in running time on a lot of films. And it's been the cause of many a heated debate

Transformers: The Movie UK release is shorter than the AUS version acording to the back of the case. But when we both looked at the actual time when playing the film it was identical, UK version was longer than listed on the box whilst the AUS version was shorter than the time listed on the back of their box. It's crazy.

The official German distributor Capelight Pictures, report 108 min: http://www.capelight.capevision.de/d...vdItem&id=2731

Where you can find back cover photo of the German bluray ?

The video quality is different between GER and UK bluray ?

use the same encoding/codec MPEG-4 AVC ? and 50GB dual layer disc for both edition ?

German bluray have forced subtitles for english audio ?

I am undecided on which version to buy.. the German bluray have English subtitles, but do not know is forced subtitles for eng audio ?

and i do not if the same master for video, the same encoding/codec, the same bit-rate video, in short.. if the video quality is equal to or greater than UK bluray ?

PS: BBFC report for UK bluray a running time of 101 min 27sec: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classi...257922005271E4

this is FSK16 file (pdf) for German bluray: http://www.spio.de/fskonline/PDF/1201/131027V.pdf

I am unsure why, because the official rating certificate they submitted clearly states 102 min. Your link:

Well, I have not seen the German disc and do not know.

No. If you look at the specs on the back cover, it is clear that the German disc is BD25. The UK disc is 50GB.

Unfortunately, I do not have the disc to test it and confirm

Without testing the German disc, I do not know. However, having tested the UK disc, I cannot possibly see how this German release could offer any improvements. If anything - considering that the transfer is apparently loaded on a 25GB disc - it could very well be inferior. The only clear advantage I could see with the German disc - and we will have to assume that the specs on its back cover are correct - is the presence of English subtitles.

Anything over .25 seconds we round. So, 01:41:43 would be 102 minutes on our site.

Ciao

I have the German Capelight blu-rayand the back cover lists 108 minutes.
But this is an error as the movie is around 102 minutes , so the same cut as the UK.
Picture quality is good, but I don't know if the UK is better. According to the screenshots I think they are equal. The Subtitles are all optional both german and English.

Thank you for responding

50GB of disc, than it occupies the UK release ?

Thanks for the information of the presence of unforced subtitles

You may check the type of video codec used ?

and if you can, even the actual size of disc ?

Forgive me, maybe I explained bad..

for example: the bluray "Hanna" is 50 GB disc and total space on disc used is 34 GB (EXTRA included), and the medium bit-rate for video is about 28 MB

Link Hanna bd Video Specification: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...postcount=4000

I mean, what is the medium bit-rate of Sleeping Beauty UK bd ?

and how much space is actually occupied on the disc ?

Apparently came out yesterday. I don't know why there's no blu is US (Or Canada). Not sure if I should import or if the blu will come later... I don't like to buy something if I know the special features won't play.

Because the US distributors apparently did not see a big enough market to release the title on Blu-Ray. This is not the first foreign film that has only seen a DVD release in the states, and I am sure it won't be the last.

I highly doubt it will be available on blu-ray in the US/Canada. I mean my local Walmart didn't even get any DVD copies to sell. I decided to import the blu-ray, and if I absolutely need to watch the extra features (just a few cast interviews) then they'd probably be on the internet somewhere.

Plus, the DVD is selling for 20 dollars. I paid 18 for the blu-ray.

I noticed that this UK version of SLEEPING BEAUTY is no longer in the blu-ray.com database here. I believe it went missing after the data loss on June 8 2012.

How can we help get it back up?

There is no Blu-ray info lost. So the disc and the review are in:

Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray REVIEW

Make sure you preferences are set to all regions here:
https://www.blu-ray.com/community/settings.php

Also, when you search, yo must have the 'globe' in your search bar for all regions.

Oh damn! Thanks. I always had it on the 'GLOBE' when I did a search. It must have defaulted to the USA.

Thanks again.

I see I have 284 in my collection, but my MY MOVIES MOBILE APP only reads 245. Any way I can fix that to match?

I completely agree. This is the definition of an art film. It's a shame Paramount Pictures doesn't plan on releasing this Blu-ray in U.S.
