Default Help with buying a new receiver

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, and have been looking for info / help on buying a new mid-range receiver. Basically, what I'm looking for is something that I can run both my ps3 and 360 through using hdmi and then to my tv (so 2 in 1 out), that can handle the ps3's full range of audio/video capabilities (or come as close as possible.

My spending range is 300-400 (hopefully). My tv is slightly older, but still pretty darn good. It's a 42" Sony 1080i WEGA.

Any and all help is much appreciated. Some of the things here have been very helpful, but others just leave me scratching my head. Go easy on the noob!

It was just $340 all day, if you wait a couple weeks you might see it that low again. Amazon is known to change the price randomly on this thing.

That's a mighty fine recommendation. I was about to suggest Onkyo and thought I'd better check your link to see what you were offering.
Here in the UK, all Onkyo receivers score top marks in What Hifi magazine.

Default great suggestions, thank you as well

Looking to upgrade my audio. I am all set up on the video end of things. However, I am trying to get a clue with regards to the audio to capture the quality from the blu ray movies..

So have you guys run your ps3 to this one? Does it handle all of the HD audio output capabilities?

I also noticed the back of this receiver has different plugs for the speakers. Mine are the old micro speakers with the black and red copper cables. Will those work on with this receiver or will I have to buy a new set?

Yea, this is the receiver I'm looking at in the HT-SP908 HTiB system.

A GREAT future proof receiver, especially for the price.

Usually for that price range, the Onkyo 605 is going to pop up constantly.
You really can't go wrong with it.

I upgraded my ancient receiver to a 605 and never had one regret.
It's perfect if you're not looking to spend over $400.

They're screw type posts what do you mean different? It'll fit all types of speaker wire you just screw it in there or use banana plugs.

I also have made up my mind on the 605, you can get it at CC right now for 439.99 less 10% internet coupon.

I was all set to buy this today along witht he Polk that they also have on sale this week but the salesguy was a prick so I just left the store.
