Enjoyed both, but TDKR edged out Avengers as i thought the pacing for an even longer movie on my first viewing was perfect and even the 2nd time, it didn't feel slow like it might in parts, but 'slowed down enough' (based on the idea you know what's coming) without any detriment to the flow of the movie. I actually found it much easier to absorb the story even more cause i knew what came, i can look for even more obscure elements of the story i may have missed
Both were AMAZING movies though and all the fans won! ![]() |

The Avengers for me! Simply because for me it was ground breaking and I was blown away at the fact that they actually made a film with this many super heroes. On my first viewing my jaw dropped during the first fight scene between Iron Man & Thor. I couldnt believe I was really watching this! On top of that it was done superbly and this was a film that couldve easily went wrong based on the material at hand but Whedon stepped up and knocked it out of the park! This film is probably in my top 10 films of all time! Got Em!!

On my first viewing on both, about equal. Second viewing realised that the Avengers was nothing more than Transformers 4 but with better jokes. Actually yawned on my second viewing because the story was thin and the action was so in your face it got old really fast. Still a good film with lots of superhero's on screen but overtime the film is just action, action with no story or heart. 4 out 5.
The TDKR is a better film but not so a much a better superhero's film. Batman is on screen for a total of 19 mins in a 165 min film. That's not good enough for a superhero film. Actually if Batman never showed up, i don't think the film would a suffered that much storywise. That being said the story and pace never faulted even on second viewing, pity Batman was just a guest in his own film. 4 out 5 As Bane would say " Let the games begin " because this thread is going to War. I liked them both.
They are totally different styles of films and both are not as perfect as the fanboys of each think. I will gladly own both on Blu-ray when they come out. We should be happy we got two very good superhero movies this year. |
