Reading reviews of blu-ray films, I've noticed that no movies on blu-ray have any high defination extras. What would those extras be?

If you go to https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...0&goto=newpost
and click on one of the tiles, none of them have high def extras. |

Actually I gather that Superman Returns has no HD extras. Those listed as HD are incorrect.
That said a number of Sony titles like Click and Disney titles like The Prestige do have HD extras like deleted scenes, making of etc. Also Crank has the extras in HD iirc... they are worth watching too IMHO. |

Yea as far as HD extras and director commentary is concerned Crank is the leader of the pack as to what the future standard should be in this area.

I believe Hi-Def extras is a misleading term. They don't mean that the extras are in high definition, they mean it to be that the Hi-Def disc contains extras not seen on the standard-DVD release.
So even though titles like The Prestige have their extras in Hi-Def resolution, those same extras are still found on the standard DVD release, albeit in lo-res. |

Anyway - while I like extras, I don't need too many of them. I love the shorts that are included with movies like Ice Age or Open Season, but you can stay away from 10 different documentaries on the making of the film. Keep it simple...and relavant. I mean really - who has time to watch all the extra content they pour into something like Pirates of the Caribbean? I'm ready to watch another film - not lay on the couch seeing every aspect of this one... |

I never watch the extras, but I like getting my money's worth so the more stuff they pack in their the better, especially when it comes to BD and the higher prices versus standard dvd.

Yes, BD has been preserving a lot of extras in HD quality. The Pursuit of Happiness includes all of the extras from the DVD and all are in HD on the BD. The few extras from Warner that I've seen preserved in HD, hardly looked it. Some of Disney's early discs proclaimed HD extras as well. But evaluation proved them SD in fidelity but either encoded in HD or framed in 16:9 - of which many were still pillarboxed 4:3. But, recent day and date releases has found Disney doing more HD extras. Sony's been doing them off and on ever since their release of RV. Paramount has done a few discs with quality HD extras. LG has been doing some as well, but the last one I saw from LG looked like the video of the feature film paid a small price for it. Fox has probably done more HD extras than they have SD ones, though they're hardly doing any extras at all right now.
