This is excellent news. It is a shame however, that, knowing the BBC, they will have mastered these at 1080/50i as they did with Civilisation. I wish they would master their shot on film material in 1080p23.976.
I will buy them regardless. Life on Earth has never even been released on DVD in the USA. EDIT: And neither, it seems, has The Trials of Life! Last edited by McCrutchy; 08-01-2012 at 05:44 PM. |

If that is the case, that would be highly disrespectful. The BBC thought highly enough of Civilisation to release the entire thirteen-part series (at the same price) and it would be ignorant to release a shorter version of any of their other documentaries. |

Also the release date for both appears to be November 5, according to the BVA, though Amazon still says September 24.
Note: http://www.bva.org.uk/node/1909263 - Life on Earth- 150 minutes (A compliation) This is very disappointing, and I think Trials of Life might go the same way. |

I don't really understand the whole "film" part of films, as in, what they are shot on. Is it different for documentaries? Because I see films like Psycho and 60's Bonds being released on Blu Ray, but yet programs like Blue Planet don't get released. I know Blue Planet wasn't "shot in HD" or something but surely it could be remastered? I mean if these are coming out then I don't see why not.
