Default Has your steelbook addiction had a negative impact on your day...

to day life?

I mean this is one of the subforums I mainly visit and I must admit I do like me a nice steel even though I don't have a particularly large collection but with some people I constantly see them ordering tons upon tons of steelbooks and if one is slightly dinged there's an emotional outrage as if someone just gave them racist abuse now ofcourse everyone is different and i'm sure most of you out there just appreciate a good steel but my question is more directed at those who's whole outlook on blurays is dictated by steelbooks.

I wouldn't say it's had a negatve impact as i'm fairly level headed but let's just say that right now i am consumed by it. Checking this section everyday and in less than 3 months having accumulated more steelbooks than people in 3 years

But i don't regret it once. The steelbook hunting etc has been great and i won't make a loss with them in terms of resale value should i ever fall upon hard times like with amarays so i'm quite happy with buying them without regret.

Not got anything to seriously save up for atm anyways

Yeah. Gutted today. Hoping the steelbooks from play would have arrived. Also a slipcase from japan, twin peaks is now 4 weeks in post. Terrible day. And got no finds in the stores.

Tomorrow will be better, but feel like cr@p today lol.

There are some people who must own every steelbook that ever sees the light of day. I don't understand how those people can manage. That kind of attitude makes it one of the most expensive "addictions" I can think of... especially with this year being what it has been.

Myself, I will take a steelbook of any film I deem worthy of getting a nice special packaging that isn't much bigger than a standard amaray release. If I like the film enough, I'll even double-dip to get the case itself, into which I'll place whichever copy of the disc has the better set of features.

Has it ruined my day-to-day life? No. But, I can see the potential... especially if there is a wife involved in the financial mix!

Haha, good luck with Fopp. Keep an eye out for me too bud, i'd love to get hold of anything you find in there nicely priced . See, steelbook addiction kicking in

As for Iron Man 2 steelbooks on monday, i'm not sure now. They've been 'processing in the warehous' since yesterday and i haven't had any other update on the other steelbooks such as Pitch Black etc

After many repetitions I can honestly say when I have a good day, the wife isn't having a good day at all.

It's had a negative effect on mine.
I was hoping for my play deliveries, some from Amazon.de &some from a member on here, none arrived today, and I'm away for a week on Monday : (Monday is a bank holiday here)

I've only just started to collect them and it's not good I feel stressed out if I don't find what I want and if somebody pips me on eBay by 50p then I can get a little angry, plus trying to explain the need in a steelbook to the missus can also lead to frustration for me too!

i only get steel books for awesome films, classic films, or if they are far superior to the stand blu ray case. but yes, i HATE getting them with dents, it pisses me off. currently i own 4 steels : inception, the dark knight, batman begins, and scarface. in the next few months i'll be adding : the matrix, jaws, shutter island, and forrest gump (thinking about titanic)

with many collectible hobbies, most people want it to be as mint as it can be.

with statues that costs from $400 - $10,000, most collectors request for a replacement even with a minor scratch

with collectible games, the outside cardboard packaging has to be perfect with no dent or else collectors will ask for a repalcement.

same goes with steelbook or even slipcover, collectors want it to be mint without defect.

not everyone has the same mentality so there are always some folks who do not care or accept some minor flaw. I have some steelbook with dents, but I learn to accept them if they are cheap.

Expensive yes. But the least deadly
