I picked up several of the Universal 100th Anniversary Edition BDs recently. They ALL say "Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy" on the slipcase, however, some of them only say "Blu-ray + DVD" on the cover of the disc itself. There is also no mention of the Digital Copy on the rear cover. None of these have been opened yet. Has anyone else run into this?

Fast Times has a digital copy for sure (I have it). I assume the rest do as well. Probably they do it like that so when the digital copies expire, the stores can just remove the slipcovers.

Check the insert on these - they're redeemable through iTunes as a store download.

But the boxart of Apollo 13 and Uncle Buck do have the "Blu-ray, DVD, & Digital Copy" banner, and the Digital Copy is described on the rear. Perhaps I can post some photos tomorrow.

Universal isn't indicating the digital copy on the interior insert for later on when the current releases w/ digital copy inserts are old stock. They'll still be able to sell them as Blu-ray/DVD combos without the slipcovers after the codes inside are expired and when people open them up a few years from now they won't be able to complain because, as you've pointed out, there will be nothing on the outer package advertising the useless expired codes. |
