Default Moviesdigitization

I'm renovating our house, where I plan to digitization our DVDs and BDs, the movies are thought to be placed on a network drive whisch is available from the house's three TVs.
  • When I rip I guess it's simple to choose which language to attach (English / Norwegian), but how easy is it for the kids to choose their preferred language?
  • What about DTS / Dolby etc goes this automatically? One TV is connected to 5.1 the two others have no surround.
  • I have a couple of movies where I missing Norwegian text (Spiderman 2 which the house's 11-year-old wants to see) it is possible to download the Norwegian text from the web?
  • What is the preferred format for ripping (hard disk space is not an issue)?

How easy is it for the kids to choose the preferred language?...

There's not enough information here to determine that. Assuming you rip multiple soundtracks the software used to play those files back will determine how easy it is to choose one and as for the kids... who knows how easy it will be for them.

Anyways,... I get tempted sometimes to make a media server for my movies too. A few things get in my way though: It's illegal, it takes more time to set up than I would spend watching the movies, I would need 20TB and another 20TB to back it up.

I already made a music server for my house though. That's fairly easy and doesn't require a large hard drive even if you don't compress (degrade) the audio files.

Good Luck,

Brian
