Default Spielberg and Lucas??

Now that the war is over, when will Spielberg and Lucas join the fun. I see them getting started on there 'must have's' soon. They need to strike while the iron is hot...

Market penetration is still too small.

You'll see smaller Spielberg titles first...Empire of the Sun, for example....or A.I. Early next year, I'm guessing.

It'll take some time before we see the Jurassic Park/Schindler's List/ET/Jaws/Saving Private Ryan/Minority Report release wave.

We know they have been watching this chain of events. Lucas is still focused on residual fear from Laser disc catastrophy. I bet we see both of their multitude of films this year. I can't wait for American Graffiti, etc...

sadly, Lucas is more concerned about releasing bs remakes of attack of the clones then making more of a profit on past movies.

I wouldn't be surprised if Speilberg overlooks a lot of his titles once he's done with Indy 4. I'm sure Lucas has been waiting for the war to end before he released the Star Wars series, just so he wouldn't piss off any fans by releasing it on just one format.

I am curious how much of an improvement the original 3 Star Wars movies will have on BluRay. The last three he made should all be burned and the ashes buried at the Earth's core. I'm sure the visuals would look great on BD but they are still god awful movies. George Lucas cared more about special effects than storytelling. The sad thing is that all the computer generated environments and characters made the movies less realistic than the original 3.

We already know that Spielberg is amiable to Blu given his comments and the release of Close Encounters. It is possible that the new Indiana Jones could be their trial run as it will be a new release and Paramount will most likely fight for it.

I think any of speilberg or lucas films will look great and be great, but like someone else said lucas may take a long time for them to come out. we will all have to have patience.

spielberg will continue releasing on BD. Lucas? Unlikely for now. Maybe after BD gains 50% of share against DVD, then he will.

I think we'll see Spielburg's movies first, as George is busy with the live action sw/clone wars /3d sw. Though, he could easily assign somebody to start the project and he can signoff on it later.

I think Lucas may have to "refinish" the early Star Wars movies for a release on Blu. The effects shots in ANH would look horrific in HD. I believe he was hesitant even for the DVD release because of this reason. What do ya think?

I think "continue" is stretching it a bit, when we only have one Spielberg directed movie (and it's from Sony): Close Encounters... and it was a sales dud.

I think we will see the Indy series appear before Starwars. Especially since Indy 4 is coming out.

The newest versions of the DVDs had all of the effects "remastered" to address a lot of those concerns. Caught two of the three originals (SW, ESB) on StarzHD not too long ago and they looked absolutely fantastic. Considering that is a 1080i stream at 17MB/sec, I can't wait to see what these films could look like in 1080P on Blu-Ray.

Might make sense for him to look at a trickle release starting in August when the new animated Clones movie hits theaters.

I think they also know that if they start to release their catalog titles, BD will gain a significant market share. They also know that if they give us a 'bone' we and other new adopters will continue to support the format, hence pouring a lot of new money into their pockets. They already own the SD market, but 'greed is good' and they know that they will own the BD market soon too. All they need to do is release a title here and there to start the frenzy. We have been begging for their titles for a year and a half now. A little taste here and there will really start a feeding frenzy I think.

Definately. Star Wars will come when BD is common in every house hold - just look at Star Wars for DVD.
