I started getting into this band recently purely by accident (bless Pandora) and was wondering if anyone else happens to own this little gem? |

I didn't know anything about this band when I bought the BD, but I loved it. If you already like Porcupine Tree, then it's a no-brainer. Get it! ![]() |

Its a great disc, but I think the DVD-A of Fear of a Blank Planet are actually more dynamic than the film soundtrack. I know its a live performance and all, but I guess after listening to the DVD-A so many times, I got used to that sound and was hoping for more from the disc. That is not to say its bad - it really is a great disc that any PT fan needs to own - just not as good as I had hoped.
Dave Mathews/Tim Reynolds is still my favorite concert by far. |

This was the first PT disc I bought, never listened to them before this. Played the concert completley through twice over two nights and just got hooked. Now bought all Steve Wilson's solo BDs and PT's DVD-As. Even bought a 2nd copy of Anesthetize and gave it to my brother n law for his birthday. |

This easilly gets top marks from me. What an incredible concert. Not a single song on the setlist left me bored or tuned out.
The audio quality will now be reference material when I want to show off the system Just wow! |

Yup, I have it. It's one of my favorite concert performances. It's great.
I first got into Porcupine Tree in 2010. I listened to them a lot on a bus ride to the Coachella music festival, where I eventually saw them live in a very intimate daytime show. They played "Time Flies", which might be my favorite song from them. I was close to the front and it was amazing. I got to meet them and get autographs later and I took a picture with Steven Wilson. I love this band so that was definitely a highlight of my life. I've seen them a second time with Coheed and Cambria, another of my favorite bands who I also saw at Coachella. |

I can also highly recommend the Porcupine Tree DVD Arriving Somewhere which has an incredible DTS 5.1 mix. This was from their Deadwing tour and includes songs from that album plus In Absentia album. Arriving Somewhere DVD has much more kick in the low end compared to the DVD-Audio releases. I hope the rumoured BD Audio releases of those two are remixed to catch the way the live concert sounds. Highly Recommend Arriving Somewhere for Porcupine Tree fans, and those wanting to find new and exciting music. (I also read somewhere that this concert was filmed in HD, please let there be a Blu release!) |

Steven Wilson: He is the "go-to" person when it comes to 5.1 blu-ray concerts. Just like during the days of stereo stores using Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon" was used to show off a stereo sound system, "Anesthetize" and Steve Wilson's "Get What You Deserve" are the Blu-rays to show off a home theater system. I can't decide which I prefer most. I may have to go with "Get What You Deserve" because the customer's wife may be present in the demonstration and "Anesthetize" may scare the hell out of her. For my surround system at home, I think I'm going to go with "Get What You Deserve" because one can navigate better with menu option without interrupting the music. I even got the guys at Best Buy to use a PT Blu-ray to show off their systems.
By the way, it was my wife that turned me on to Porcupine Tree. She is a true prog rock fan of the highest degree!!! Last edited by Enjoyprog; 06-09-2013 at 07:30 AM. Reason: Furthermore... |

My wife is SLOWLY (heavy on the slow) coming around to PT. I have the Iphone playing on the speaker dock in the kitchen while I am cooking and she is intrigued by certain songs.
She really did enjoy "The Jokes On You". |

My 18 yr old daughter is resisting but, like mum, is starting to gravitate into my 5.1 music room when I'm playing PT. Her friend has asked 'who is that your dad is playing?. More fans emerging... |

I put this disc in Monday and cranked a few tracks and I still really like this disc. I'm not typically a fan of live tracks, but these are produced so well that it sounds almost like the studio. I was watching "Way Out of Here" and I felt the emotions so clearly. Just amazing.
