I always liked how the movie started, quite dark, then he goes to the school... kinda goes downhill. However the whole film is rather adult and menacing in places, which is confusing for me in terms of what audience they were going for. The "finale" is quite intense too, for what is marketed as a "kiddie film".

If I remember they had to cut the film to make it's certificate. It's rated 15 for home video. I can't remember if it was originally in-line with a 15 or 18 certificate (15 probably) before it was cut.
