Default Two different Female Expendables films planned

Quote:
Producer Adi Shankar has hired Dutch Southern to pen an all-female riff on the bro-tacular action franchise The Expendables.

Variety reports that Shankar will produce the Expendables-inspired project, and has already begun contacting several prominent actresses to come aboard the film. However, specific names have yet to be disclosed.

Speculation abounds as to who could be joining this gal pal action romp. Lucy Lawless? Milla Jovovich? Sigourney Weaver? Stay tuned as we learn more, and list off your own suggestions in the comments below!
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/...le-expendables

There is a second female Expendables planned called....

The ExpendaBelles

Quote:
Millennium Hires ‘Legally Blonde’ Scribes For ‘ExpendaBelles’ Spinoff

EXCLUSIVE: After grossing $563 million worldwide on The Expendables and its recently released sequel, Millennium Films has set Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write ExpendaBelles, the title of the spinoff action film that will show the feminine side of the mercenary business. The intention is to hatch a franchise that will be driven by actresses who’ve logged time in action films over the years, much the same way that The Expendables team is comprised of action film staples. Millennium will finance with Avi Lerner and Mark Gill producing, along with Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures and Julie Kroll of Summertime Entertainment and Boaz Davidson. Trevor Short will be executive producer.

The action game hasn’t been as steady for actresses as it has been for their male counterparts, but certainly Angelina Jolie thrives and Underworld‘s Kate Beckinsale, Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich, Haywire‘s Gina Carano, and Kill Bill‘s Uma Thurman have done well in the butt-kicking action realm. And there is also Alien‘s Sigourney Weaver, Long Kiss Goodnight‘s Geena Davis, Elektra‘s Jennifer Garner, Crouching Tiger‘s Michelle Yeoh, Red Sonja‘s Brigitte Nielsen, and action genre matriarch Pam Grier. Who am I missing? Millennium is compiling its own list, but doesn’t expect to make offers until the writers deliver the goods. Lutz and Smith are repped by Paradigm and Jaret Entertainment.

My choices would definitely be Milla J, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Alba, ScarJo, Jessica Biel and you absolutely CANNOT overlook Gina Cerrano for something like this.

As much as i like Sigourney, i don't think she'd pull off Ripley-esque stuff and tbh, maybe it seems sexist, but i don't think a lady her age needs to bother trying such a thing like the boys have. Still, if she could do it convincingly, i'm IN!

And it would be a crime to not include Cynthia Rothrock...
I would definitely throw in Michelle Yeoh, Pei pei Cheng, and Kara hui.

The whole purpose in Expendables is mainly old stars mixes with some young. You may not picture it, but Sigourney Weaver would have to be included for how she helped changed action movies led by females. Linda Hamilton and Pam Grier would be very important too.

Yes, but the first two wouldn't be playing gun-toting male-bashing action roles in the movie unless James Cameron was directing. He's got, um, issues.
(I mean, Sigourney didn't look all that happy to be in Avatar, and why should she, she was over 60 at the time!)

And even without Cameron's misogynist kissups, I think you know where an all-action-babe movie would be headed...Let's be honest, would you REALLY be looking that forward to it?
(Or is it just some buried dominatrix issues with you guys? I got treated like dirt by enough girls in high school for real, I don't have to pay theater money to fictionalize more of it as an adult.)

I have no idea what you are talking about. You sound like one of the guys against a Wonder Woman movie. I grew up with action movies with both men and women in the lead (especially supported in Hong Kong and shaw bros films). I love female-headlining action movies as much ad Arnold and Sly films. There is no fetish besides it looking hot when females kick ass. You never watched the Charlies Angles or Wonder Woman show growing up i suppose?

I think Sigourney should be the villain alongside Linda Hamilton tbh. Regardless, i'd watch this but i'm just skeptical of an 'old' woman doing action if you know what i mean. Sly, Arnie and even Willis barely pulled it off in Expendables 2 and even then,
[Show spoiler]all the toungue in cheek references to their individual hey day movies was the only thing that makes it ok on the whole

Truth is, action should only be done by those that look believable in the role which is why, IF Sigourney joined and IF she was gonna do action scenes, it should look believable and good, kinda like Sly etc handled it in the Expendables.

To be honest, i think female startlers deserve something like this. Males have had their version and its been amazing to see that and obviously look like it'll continue into the future with a 3rd by all the buzz. Now, females deserve their own iteration that's just as great and celebrates all out strong female women in a way that befits their great contribution to cinema where actions concerned

It's called good directors and/or good action choreographers. Judging an actor by their age, size of body, or size of muscles is meaningless.

We all know that actresses look good when they are in fight scenes.

Older actresses look even cooler when they have a chance to be in action scenes:

Helen Mirren in Red.
Pei Pei Cheng in Croutching Tiger.

Remember those Star Wars prequels? What happens when actors do fight scenes with bad directors? They dont look believable and they just look choreographed. Jedis, Sith and all - just not believable and boring.

Not to be sexiest but i dont think a female Expendables movie would work.. but if i had to choose some badass chicks i would go with Sigourney Weaver taking the lead and having Linda Hamilton as her go to.. then Kate Beckinsale, Uma Thurman, Mila Jonovich and Michelle Rodriguez

If there is a giant nude shower scene (NOT) including the grandmas then I'm in.

Sigourney Weaver, Pam Grier and Linda Hamilton can be out doing recon or something.

It's amazing how so many people are actually sexist.

No one should judge someone not being able to be an ass kicker based on sex or age.

Look at this fight scene between Cynthia Rothrock vs Karen Shepard. They both look like shlumpy girls from a Sex and The City episode. Don't tell me that doesn't look like an awesome fight scene:

If anyone is skeptical about actresses kicking ass, think of the actresses who are ass kickers and think of their roles before their ass-kicking films:

Beckinsale: Much Ado About Nothing, Shooting Fish, Last Days of Disco, Serendipity

Jolie: Gia, Pushing Tin, Girl Interupted

Jovovich: Kuffs, Chaplin, Dazed and Confused

Biel: 7th Heaven, Summer Catch, Rules of Attraction

Are you telling me all of you could picture these actresses whooping asses in future movies when you saw them in movies before their action roles?

They are believable action heroes because they are directed well in their ass kicking ones.

Oh, I read the Wonder Woman comic growing up, which is why I had respect for her as an action babe. (For an Amazon, she was rather uncharacteristically light in the male-bashing department, and stayed focused on the truth-and-justice business.)
And if you're talking about the 70's version, I wouldn't exactly call Aaron Spelling's original Charlie's Angels a bold step in "feminism"...

I'm worrying more along the lines of Angelina Jolie in "Salt"...Or Wanted, or Tomb Raider, or Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life, or for that matter, just about anything that hands Jolie a gun and tells her to look sexy and bulletproof.
Hand Schwarzenegger or Van Damme a gun, and he knows he's a comic-book figure--Hand an action-babe a gun, and she thinks she's Thelma & Louise.
I guess that's why guys like action movies. We know it's made up.
